IvT. There being no objection, the j~layor ordereu the communication filed suggest- ing that any who are able to attend do so. A communication was received from R. Earl Ruddy, Secretary-NIana- ger of the League of California runicipalities to the effect that after a series of conf erences with Director Earl L. Kelly of the State Department of Public ~`~'~'orks they can say tivith almost certainty th~.t the willinterpret the prpvisions of Senate Bill. 563 to mean that the allocation to cities from Gasoline Tax Revenues will commence with July lst, T933, in lieu of effective date of the legislation. There being no objection, the Nlayor ordered the communication filed. A petition was received signed by 1B pr®perty owners residing on N'iulford Avenue, petitioning the County to improve Nlulflord Avenue by having sane resurfaced wi thout cost to the property o~:•.~ners. There being no objection, the T,ayor referred. the matter over to tre City Engineer for report as to cost, etc. A communication was received from the City of Sierra Madre with copy of San Bernardino County Plan for handling the unemployment situa- tion attached, recommending that Los Angeles County adopt a similar plan. ~l'here being no objection, the Niayor instructed the City Clerk to have conies made of the plan of San Bernardino and submit one coby of same to each councilman for their perusal.and consideration.- A communication was received from the Petrol Corporation, sub- mitting pro~osal to furnish gasoline for fiscal year 1933-1934, quoting price of 132 per gallon deliv?red, including State Tax and exclusive of any Federal tax. Reports of acti_vitiesof the City Court for month of June was received; also from the '.wilding and License Department, fire department, and health reports were received. There being no objection, the I~iiayor or- dered said reports filed. ORAL COIv.NUNI CATI ONS : Mrs. Niattie ilven addressed the Council requesting that she be permitted to retain the 4 feet on the north. of her building on Long Beach Boulevard and in return therefor she is willing to give the City the sharp corner. There being n ob jection, the Niayor made an appoint- ment with Nlrs. Vilven to meet her at the corner at 3:3~ p. Ni. , ~JVY? en En- gineer Bateman will also be present and go over the situation, and see if a satisfacetory solution can be reached. Mellinger in the amount of 350.00 for alleged injuries sustained because of a defective side~ralk which caused him to falland break his leg, stating that there is no reason to believe that the City has any Liability at all in the matter, and therefore recommending teat the claim be rejected Thereu pon it was moved bar Councilman Childs and seconded by Councilmar_ !'right that the claim of Chas.
