HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1933-08-22 - CCSPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 22ND, 1933. 1Q~~ The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a special session, pursuant to call of Mayor Davies, at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date at 7:30 P. M. Mayor Davies in the chair. Councilmen Snyder, ENright, Daetweiler and Davies answered the roll call. Councilman Childs was absent. The call was read by the Clerk, reading as follows: rrYou are hereby notified that a Special Meeting of the City Coun- cil of the City of ?vnurooa ~~sill be held at the Council Chamber in the City Hall, 11331 Plaza S1-reet, onthe 22nd daY of August, 1933, at 7:30 P. M, for the purpose of introducing an Ordinance of the City of Lynwood fixing the rates of taxes and levying taxes for the fiscal year beginning July 1st, 1933 and ending June ~i0th,1934; also business pertaining to Police De- partment, signed by Niayor Davies. Said notice having been served on members of the Council at le ast three hours prior to the meeting as required by law. Ordinance No. 219, entitled: "An Ordinance of the City of Lynwood fixing rates of taxes ~d levying taxes for the fiscal year beginning July 1st, 1933 and ending June 3Oth,1934", was introduced and read by title. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Wright that the further reading of said Ordinance be waived. Roll Call Ayes: Councilmen Snyder, Wright, Daetweiler, and Davies. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Childs. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Wright that said Ordinance be accepted as read the first time by title and pass to the second reading. Roll Call: Ayes:Councilmen Snyder, Wright, Daetweiler and Davies. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Childs. A communication was received from City Treasurer Reed recommend- ing the adoption of an Ordinance eliminating all penalties and costs which have accrue-~ in the Special Light Maintenance District on all levies made since 1926, and s~abstitute therefor, the nominal interest rate of 7/ per annum from this date until paid, x~r~vided such delinquent assessments are paid on or before Anil ?Qt~^, 1434, the same day that Sentate Bill No. 93 becomes ineffective. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman alright and seconded by Councilman Snyder that the City Attorney be instructed to draft an ordinance waiving all delinquent penalties and costs which have accrued to date on all lighting assessments, provided the delinquent items are paid between this date and April 20th, 1934, but they shall remain a lien against the property involved if not paid on or before that date, and that the City Tress€urer be authorized forthwith to accept payments without payment of the penalties and costs on lighting assessments. Ro11 Call: Ayes: Councilmen Snyder, Wright, Daetweiler and Davies. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Childs. Resignations were received from Messrs. E. M. Erkfitz and John M. Bennett resiging as Police Officers of the City of Lynwood to become effec- tive on August 21st, 1933. Chief of Police Bailey addressed the Council recommending that the resignations be accepted. ' Thereuponit was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Coun- cilman Wright that said resignations of Messrs. E. M. Erkfitz and John M. Bennett ~s Police Officers of the City of Lynwood be accepted to take ef- fect as per date requested in their resignation. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Snyder, Wright, Daetweiler and Davies.
