The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a regular session at the Ci~y Hall, 1131 Plaza ~~reet, on abot-e date, at 7:30 P. M. lzi~~yor Davies in the chair. Councilmen Snyder, 6~iright, DaettiTreiler, Childs and Davies ans~nrered the roll call. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Child that the minutes of the previous adjourned regular meeting of October 31st, 1933 be appp roved as written. Bogart of the City of Gardena thanking the members of the City Council and the Chief of Police for the fine spirit of cooperation exhibited at the time of the •funeral of their Fire Chief Baldrick, by providing. escort. There being no objection, the Mayor ordered same filed. A communication was received from J. L. Pomeroy, M. D., Health Of- ficer of the County of Los Angeles with resolution attached requesting Council to support their application for permit to State of California to operate their health clinins in the various districts. There being no ob jectior_, the Mayor ordered the matter laid over _f or further consideration when Health Officer Estes is ~r?sent. A communication ,R,as receive? from the City of Burbank relative to cases tried. in :"unreme Court of the `Mate, where the court held that where property ol~mers fail to pay their assessment to meet payment of interest and principal of bonds unczer the improvement bond act of 1915, the City -must meet the delinquencies out of available moneys that may be in the Gen- eral fund by an unlimited tax levied on all taxable property in the City, not limiting same to 10~ on each X100.00 on assessable property as provi- ded in the Act, also announcing a meeting to be held on Friday, Novenber 10th, at 12:00 o'clock noon at the Alex-under Hotel, to discuss this im- portant matter. to be attended by the City Attorneys of the various cities, requesting that our City Attorney attend and that he be authorized to in- cur a reasonable expense on behalf of the City not to exceed 50.00 for the employment of special counsel. City Treasurer Reed also addressed the Council on the matter stating that Lynwood has 34 1915 Districts with a total delinquency to date of ~y55,000.00. It was moved by Councilman Chilc and seconded by Councilman Snyder that City Treasurer Reed and City Attorney Hubbard be instructed to attend said meeting, and that the City Attorney be. authorized to make an expenditure up to ~p50.00 to employ special counsel in an endeavor to reopen the case for rehearing in the Supreme Court on be- half of the City. M. Stezenm~;yer and 8 others. There be- ing no oti~ jection, the Iulayor referred the matter to Engineer Bateman for re- port at next meeting. Report of City Court for month of October was received; also health report for week ending October 28th, 1933, and there being no ob jec- tion, the Mayor ordered same filed. REPOT OF SPECIAL COMIC-TITTEE5 ; ouncilman nyder reported for the Committee consisting of Council- men Childs, ~rdright and himself to the effect that they have investigated the need of chemical hose,, stating that they found that they Fire T3epartment are badly in need of same, ther efore it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Childs that Fire Chief Dunlap be authorized to pur- chase 200 feet of chemical hose ~ 401 ,per foot and a reel to carry same on, the cost of said reed not to exceed y~`50.00. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Childs that the City Engineer be instructed to notify the Edison Company to change the lighting on Long Beach Boulevard, between Fernwood Avenue and Imperial I~ighway, so all lights will be burning until 1:00 A. Councilman Childs addressed the Council commending the Police and Fire Department for the splendid duck dinner served to members of their Department and C-ty officials, making a motion that the Gler k be instucted ,..,, to communicate with the Police and Fire Departments thanking them for ban- quet and reception held, ~~~hieh was duly seconded by Councilman Snyder.
