The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a regular ses- sion, at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P. N. Mayor Davies in the chair. Councilmen ~"fright, Daet~~reiler, Childs and Davies ans~F~ered the roll call. Councilman Snyder was ahsent. It was moved by Councilman Childs and seconded by Councilman VYright that the minutes of the re~*vlar meeting of March 20th, 1934 and of the ad journed sreci~l me~ti.n~ o° T`ar~?^ `'7th, 1934 be approved as writ- ten.. A communication was received from Mayor Raymond V. Darby of Inglewood calling attention to the Sixth Annual session of the Institute of Government conducted by the LTniversity of Southern California from April 2nd, to April 7th, and there being no objection the Mayor ordered same filed suggesting if any of the Council are able to attend, they should do so. A communication .was received from the Relief ~~dorkers Protec- tive Union requesting that the Council endorse the ~~undeen unemployed Insurance Bill notiv before Congress. It was moved by Councilman Childs. and seconded by Councilman Daetweiler that the matter be referred to City Attorney I~ubbard for investigation and report. Jackson offering for sale a Memoria Book of Resolution for the widow of late Councilman Mr. ~~Villiams, bond in ~alorentine leather for 30.00. It was moved by Councilman Childs and seconded ~+~r ~n,in^.i lman `"fright that the communication be received and filed. Visser of the Atlan- tic Center Market requesting that a pedestrian crossing be painted across said Atla7 tic '~ ouleva.rd at Beechwood Avenue as many persons cross at said point. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Childs and seconded by Councilman Daetweiler that the matter be referred to Engineer Bateman for .investigation and report. M. ~"lindle of Lynwood Post No. 85, American Legicn requesting permit to sell fireworks in the City of Lynv~rood on July lst, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. It vas moved by Council- man Childs and seconded by Councilman Wright that the request be granted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Wright, Daetweiler, Childs and Davies. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Snyder. A communication was received from Mabel E. Cohn, proprietor of the Beechwood :Rab?~itry thanking the Council for their hearty cooperation and support of their rab?~it show, stating that 300 beople registered and many others attended, and there being no obiection same was ordered filed. Thereupon it was moved by councilman Childs and seconded by Councilman Wright that the Council concur with the recommendations of City Engineer Bateman. NEW BUSINESS: common cation was received from the Bureau of County ~°del-fare of Los Angeles County requesting that the City furnish free water for a plot of 122 acres which is located in Lynwood, bounded by Morton Road on the south, Caress on the West and Century Boulevard on the north, to be used by indi- gent families to raise their own vegetables; also a communication from 'eater Superintendent Bateman recommending that the request be granted. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Childs and seconded by Councilman Wright that the request be granted and the City furnish free water for the watering of said garden.
