The City Council of the City of Lyn~.wood met in a regular ses-
sion, at the City Ha_11, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P.M.
In the absence of a permanent or temporary Chairman, the meet-
ing was called to order by the City Clerk and upon roll call showed the
following present:
Councilmen Boster, Lake, Meyer, Snyder.
Councilman Daetweiler was absent.
`1'he City Clerk announced that a motion ti4rould be in order for
the election of a temporary or permanent Chairman of the Council and Ma-
yor of the City of Lynwood.
Councilman Snyder addressed the Council stating that Councilman
Daetweiler regretted that he must be absent from the meeting tonight, but
he had to go to the ranch. •~•.
Councilman Snyder also stated that the newly elected Council-
men were elected as a harmony ticket or new deal ticket, and it seems to
be the wish of the majority of the people that one of the new Councilmen
should be elected as permanent Chairmen of the Council and Mayor of the

Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Tvieyer and Snyder.
Noes: None.
Declined to vote: Councilman Boster.
Absent: Councilman Daetweiler.
Thereupon Councilman Boster took his chair as Chairman and
Iviayor and addressed the Council and audience to the effect that it is
indeed a pleasure ~:s well as an honor to be elected to this position
and hope that I can live up to the platform and pledge on which we were
elected, assuring that he wil give the very best he has to serve all
the citizens of Lynvrood and not a favored few, an individual or spec-
ial interests; thanking the Council f®r the confidence expressed in him
in electing him as Mayor and the audience present for their hearty sup-
port, stating further that if any one has any grievance, complaint or
recommendation that they wish to have brought before the Council, if
they will call as the Clerk's office he will make a note of same and it
vrill not be ignored by the Council, but vrill be given due consideration. ,~,,,,
Councilman Lake addressed the Council to the effect that it
is necess?ry that the Council have legal counsel and there are several
applications on file which have not been investigated as yet, therefore,
the Council are not in a position to appoint a permanent City Attorney,
however, he would move that Mr. George Kennedy be requested to act as
temporar~r legal counsel, wh ch eras duly seconded by Councilman Meyer, and
upon roll ca17 shovued the follot^~ing result:
Ayes: Councilmen Boster, Lake, Meyer and Snyder.

'I're minutes of the previous ad iourned regular meeting, and of
the canvass of votes cast at the General Priunici?~al election held on April
9th, 1934, was read. It ~°ras moved b;r Councilman Snyder and seconded by
Councilman Meyer that the minutes be~approved. iviotion carried and so or-
dered.

An invitation was received from the Los Angeles County League
of Municipalities inviting the Council to attend their meetin- to be
held at the Health Center Building at Belvedere, located at 628 South
Ferril, at 6:30 P. M. on Aprill9th, 1934, when Dr. Pommy of the Health
Department of Los Angeles County ~.~rl.ll be the principal speaker. There
being no objection, the Ivtayor ordered the communication filed, recommend-
ing that as many as possibly can attend.
Proposals were received fromthe Texas Company, Gilmore Com- ,,,,,,~
pany, Richfield Oil Company and Standard Oil Company, agreeing to fur-
nish gasoline to the City of Lynwood for a period of 90 days for 102
per gallon for first-grade gasoline.
It w~.s moved by Councilman Lake an d seconded by Councilman
Meyer that the City ~~ttorney get in touch with the Petrol Corporation
to ascertain why they have not executed their part of the contract to
furnish gasoline and return to our files, and if it is legal to purchase
gasoline from some other firm, Motion carried and so ordered.
Considerable discussion ensued relative to the grade of gaso-
line and what company should be selected to furnish the gasoline for
the City, and it vas finally determined that the Texas Company had ?~re-
viously served the City wj th gasoline and their x~roduct was satisfactory
to all departments.

- Thereupon it was. moved by Councilman Snyder-and seconded by
Councilman Meyer that the City contract with the texas Company to furnish
gasoline for all departments, if the City Attorney finds upon investigatioi
that the Petrol Corporation contract is null and void, and that the Mayor
be instructed to execute the contract for and in behalf of the City of
Lynvro o d .

Absent Councilman naetweiler.
n~.scussion =.^~as alto ~a~ relative to the matter of local gasoline
dealers hanriling the rroduct for t?~e City and thereby giving them a com-
mission th erefr.om, however, no action was taken, but the Mayor was also
instructed to investigate the matter from that standpoint.
Applications were received from Attorneys George a^d. Crouch, ~lal-
ter N. Dirac Adam, Charles A. rtuby and George i. Kennedy applying for the
position of City Attorney. Nc~ action was taken, but the City Clerk was in-
structed to investigate the references given. Applications were also re-
ceived from Mr. U'Shaughnessy, Ftichardd Y., applying for position as
Court Clerk; also John N. Sanderson applying for a position of the Police
department and Chas. R. Cummings applying for any line of work that the
City may now have or will have open in the future and Francis M. Maldor
applying for position as Stenographer. Thereupon it was moved by Council-
man Snyder and seconded by Councilman Meyer that said applications be or-
dered filed. Motion carried and so ordered.
Report of City Court far the month of March, 1934 was received,
a.nd there being no objection, same was ordered filed.

read. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Meyer
that said Resolution No. Q03 be adopted.

A demand in the- amount of~53.33 in favor of C. B. Hubbard for
balance of his salary as City Attorney of Lynwood, was presented.
It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Lake
that said demand be allowed and warrant be drawn on the City Treasurer for
said amount.

It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman
Meyer that the 7th and 22nd of each month be fixed as regular pay days
for all City employees, and the City Clerk be instructed to thus notify
all department heads.

Noes: None.

Mayor Buster expressed appreciation on behalf of the netivly elec-
ted Councilmen for the beautiful bouquet that was presented, and again as-
sured his hearers that they would work tozether for the good of Lynwo od.
Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by
Councilman Meyer that the meeting adjourn to May 1st, 1934, at 7:30 P. M.
