The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a rez~;ular session, at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P. Pr. Ta~ayor Boster in the chair . Counc-ilmen Lake, 11~Teyer, Daetvreiler, Snyder and ?3oster answered the roll call. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Daet- ?veiler that the minutes of the previous regular meeting of TJ1ay 1st, 1934 be approved as written. A communication was received from the Disabled American Veterans of the 'r'uorld 1"Jar requesting that they be granted permission to erect tyro stands and sell.. fireworks in the City for .lour days commencing Sunday, July 1st U~nd closing at midnight, ~?uly 4th. There being, no o~~ jection, the I~rayor ordered said report and application filed. REPORTS OF SPECIAL COPl~T~iITTEES: A written r. eport was received from `~. '°d. Colfelt, Chief Distri rt S~itary Inspector for Taos Angeles County i~ealth Department reporting on the complaint contained in a petition recei~.red at last. meeting from Atlan- tic Ave. residents, stating that he had inspected the establishment of `I'alber•t, at 1116 atlantic and Fete's Place, 11264 :atlantic, and fourd that the sanitary condition of their beer establishments in a satisfac- tory condition with one toilet for each sex. P~ayor Boster also reported on the same petition relative to the "'~"" disturbance, to the effect that Tieyer and Ln-,ke have investiga-ted the mat- ter, but he has not had time to do so as yet, but ;vould in the near fut- ure, and he is sure that the matter car_ be ad jested satisfactory, ~-nd if there is a nuisance that exists that same will be abated in due time. Councilman Lake reported on the complaint of Nr. "chouten as to bad condition of water line at his renta property on State St. to the effect that he took the matter up with the '"later Superintendent and found that there had beer, two r~reaks, but that same had been repaired promptly b;?r the 'later Denartment,is not nozF~ ~ eak~.n_g, and while the Council would like to replace aJ_i old 13nes ~^.ri.i;~ r.ety nine, vet the City i.s not finan- cially able to do so ~t this time. The resignation o_f Kathryn Kirkeby as Court Clerk of the City aJUrt of Lynwood to become effective upon Tjour ac^eptance, was received, stating that she has en Toyed her ~~ork as a ^ity e~mloyee and has endeavored to render efficient and ^.orsc~ enl' ous service. 1'71 It was moved by Councilman Lake ~nd seconded by Councilman Meyer that the .Resignation of Kathryn Kirkeby as Court Clerk be accepted. Roll Call: Ayes : Councilmen Lake, I~Seyer, Daetweiler, Snyder acid Bolter. Noes : T?one. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Meyer that NIrs. Isabelle Corning be relieved of her duty as Assistant Clerk of the Z'ater Department. All members of the Council voting aye, the motion was de- clared carried by the PRayor and it was so ordered. It was moved by Councilman Unyder and seconded by Councilman h:eyer that PFIrs. Chster ihodes be appointed to the position of ~~ssistant Clerk in the VYater Departrrient, and Departmental, Recieving and Disbursing Clerk at a salary of X80.00 per Month, one-half of said salary to be paid by the Water Department and one-half to be paid out of the General Fund. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Like, rb7eyer, Daetweiler, Snyder and Boster. Noes: None. Mayor Bolter stated that some time ago the building department was moved from the Clerk's office to the Chief of Police Office, and it now ap- pears that the public would be better served if was returned to the Clerk's office as wher_ the Building Inspector is out notes can be t2ken as to in- spections desired by the Clerk's department as they are there 8 hours a day and it becomes necessary for theBuilding Inspector to go out fecr~uently on inspections and to collect licenses; allso the Chief of Police office should be a private office, therefore he would"recommend that the desk be moved back to the Clerk's office. Thereupon it eras moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Coun- cilman Meyer that the Building Department be moved back into the City Clerk' office.
