Background
•SB 2, Building Homes and Jobs Act, created a funding source—Permanent Local Housing Allocation.
Imposed $75 recording fee on real estate documents.
This funding source will be available for five years.
•Temple City’s allocation for FY 2020-21 is $124,815.
•This fund can be used for a number of eligible activities.
•LACDA has submitted a countywide plan to use its allocation for an eviction defense program.
Cities may choose to opt out of this.

Recommendations
•Recommended: Establish a loan or grant program to create up to 12 affordable junior accessory dwelling units.
•Alternative: Fund accessibility modifications in lower-income, owner occupied housing.
•Note: Funding amount will fluctuate annually based on real estate activity, and funding allocation can be revisited each year.
