It novas moved by Councilman T.Pe~ter and seconded by Councilman
Sr?yder teat t?^e minutes of the previous adjourned regular meeting of
Tvovember 27th, 1934 be approved as written. rill members of th.e Council
voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion carried and it ti~as so ordered.

A comr;.unication was received from the Los Angeles County League
of Municipalities notifying the Council of the meeting of the League to
be held at xlhanir~ra on Dec. 20th, at the Story Park Club House located
at 210 North Chapel jtreet and the time being 6:30 otclock P. M., asking
that they have a large attendance as possible as they tivish to take up
some important matters to be presented at this next session of the
legislature. The Mayor requested that as many as could attend and to
notify the City Clerk in time to male reservations for same.
A communication was received from The National Engineering
Company regretting that they were unable to anent the Council meetir_g
of this date, b?.?t would be very glad to meet 1^,rith the Council at the3_r
next official meeting. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by
Councilman MTeyer that the City Clerk be instructed to communicate with
the National Engineering Company to ascertain if it would be possible for
them to meet with the members of the City Council in the Council
Chamber at 7:30 P. TdI. on Tuesday, December 11, 1934, and if they can to
also ask the Chairman of the Epic Club and their committee to meet with
them at this time. All members of the Council voting aye, the Mayor
declared the motion carried and it was so ordered.
A communication was received from City Clerk R. T+J. Anderson,
requesting a tyro weeps leave of absence on account of the death of his
mother who passed a~^ra?T the s ~? ast T:"ondav in order that he might accompany
the rem=?i.ns to their home in "o?a.th ~`akota. Tt ~^ras moved by Councilman
Snyder and seconded by Councilman Daet~rreiler that ~`-i.ty Clerk Anderson be
granted a two weeks leave of absence. All members of the Council voting
aye, the ~.ayor r'~eclared the motion carried and it was so ordered.
t~eports of activities of r'ire Department, City Court, Police
Department, Building Department and ~leaith 1-reports were received.
A communication was received from i;hief of Police Tv1i11er
requesting that the Police Department be allowed to transfer 4 tires
from the Police car i~o. 2 to the I1~ord Truck used by the water department,
the sizes of tires used on these two vehicles being the same size.
Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman
Lake that tY1e Police Dept. get an appraisal value on said tires and
whatever this amount be the 1~ater Dept. transfer said amount to the
Police Department. All members of the Council voting aye, the Mayor
declared the motion carried and it was so ordered.
A cornmurlication was received from the Lynwood Epic Club
asl~ing the Council to consider and to do any think; they could to help
the passage of the H. R. 7598 Bill endorsed by NTr. Lundeen. The h~ayor
stated that if any member of Council was not familiar with the Bill,
same could be read by calling in the City Clerk's Office, where a copy
is on file.

NTr. Grazier, P+Zr. Weber, 1VTrs. Bray and Mr. Phillips addressed
the Council relative to the settlemer_t of Special Assessment bond
payments. Touch discussion tivas had at this time relative to the bond

of Taxpayers meet with the Crn_~ncil Committee and call upon the Board of

proper place for a sign location. councilman Lake addressed the council
suggesting that signs on the boulevard and in the main business section
should be placed with more of a landscape effect surrounding them it
seemed or something similar as they are in some of the districts in
Los Angeles.

Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by
Councilman Daetweiler that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up an
Ordinance"covering first-class signs in Zone 1 of the i3ui~ding Code. All
members of the Council voting aye, the Iti'~ayor declared the motion carried
and it tivas so ordered.
City Attorney G. E. Kennedy reported upon refund as prayed
for by dirs. Dona Splawn, that the refund of X25.00 be refunded in as
much as the permit was never granted in the first place. Thereupon it
vas moved by Councilman Iv~eyer and seconded by Councilman Lake that said
sum of X25.00 be refunded to Mrs. Nona Splawn for dance perrlit that was
not issued. „~

License Collector Collins reported on application. of uadame
utepp to operate as a Clairvoyant at 11803 ,onb peach Boulevard, that
he had checked the address and had conversation with the nearest residence
who~did not object. I~~~atter being laid over to next meeting and in the
meantime the City Clerk to notify Ivadame Stepp as to the License fee
required to operate as a Clairvoyant.
License Collector Collins reported on request of 11~~rs. Prince
who resides at 12302 Long Beach ~3oulevard ~ti=ho wished to keep dogs and
birds that he has the written consent of all the nearest residents with
the exception. of the residence directly back of her on Burton Avenue,
they do not care to sign said written consent, but do not object so long
as no nuisance is committed. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and
4econded by Councilman Daetweiler that a license be granted to I~r~rs.
Prince to keep dogs and birds at 12302 Long Beach Blvd.

` It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman
Snyder°that the demands be allowed and warrants be drawn on the City
Treasurer for said various amounts;

Councilman Lake addressed the Council regarding the water delin-
quents each month, he had hoped to have it cut down, but in order to do
so would like the hire of one man for three or four days a month making
the .motion teat A~Ir. H. H. Young be appointed as a collector jvorlring
under t'ne direction of the ~~'~ater Clerk and as she directs was seconded by
Councilman Snyder.

A communication was read from P. ti'V. Kerr, Temporary Chairman
Co-ordinating Council Juvenile Delinquency requesting the use of the
Council Chamber for monthly meetings of this organization first meeting
to he held on the 17th of nec~mher at 4:00 P. 1r7. and all of the meetings
thereafter to be held at tra-t. hour. There being n.o objections request
was granted ~~y t?~e PRa~,ror, to '^old sal-d meetings.

It was moved by Councilman Daetweiler and seconded by
Councilman 1'veyer that the Building Inspector be instructed to get the
signs to relieve the parking congestion in front of the S.E.R.A. Office.
