REGULAR MEETING JANUARY' 15TH, 1935
The City Council of the City of Lyncaood met in a regular sess-
ion, at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P,M.
Mayor Boster in the chair.
Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Daetweiler, Snyder and Boster answered
the roll call.
It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman
Daetweiler that the previous minutes of the regular meeting of January
-2nd, 1935 be approved as written. All members of the Council voting aye,
the Nlayor declared the motion carried and it was so ordered.

California Municipalities calling attention to the meeting to be held at
Inglewood at the Municipal Veterants Memorial Hall, Centinela Blvd., at F
4Yarren Lake, on January 17th, 1935. After taking a canvass of the Council.,
the Clerk was instructed to make reservations for three.
A communication ti~aas received from the Lynwood Epic Club in-
quiring relative to the Councilts disposition of their request for en-
dorsement of the Lundeen Bill to be considered by Congress. There being
no objection, the Mayor instructed each member of the Council to look into
the matter and be prepared to vote on the matter later,
Communications were received from T~Iessrs. H. E, Geiser, George
R. Wood, Herbert G. Rehfeld, requesting renewal of their policies in the
principal amount of 6,500.00 each, covering the buildings and contents
against loss by fire; also a communication was received from Mr, W. W.
Wilson requesting a portion of the business, There being no objection,
the Mayor referred the matter to City Attorney to check into the matter
as to whether or not it is compulsory that the City carry 45,00.0.00 in-
surance on the City Hall and 10,000.00 on contents in order to secure the
bonds outstanding, however, if not, he sees no reason why the policies
should be carried as it is in excess of damages that might accrue, said
matter having previously been determined by all members of the Council.
A communication was received from I1~Ir. John Pinto making appli-
cation to re-open his dance hall in connection with his cafe and beer es-
tablishment, as his business has fallen off' since the ban on dancing, --~
After due consideration of the matter, it tivas duly moved by Councilman
Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the application be denied,
according to an Ordinance previously adopted, which vaould not permit
the granting of such a permit.

A communication was received from Mr. S. Shufro, contact man of
the National Re-Employment Service, to the effect that he has investigated
the operation of our local N. R. S. office and Prir. O~Shaughnessy, the
registrat, and finds that everything is functioning one hundred per cent,
recommending that he be retained as Registrar due. to his previous ex-
perience with said work as well as with the unemployment situation.
There being no objection, the communication was ordered filed.
Reports of activities of Police, City Court departments, and
weekly and monthly reports of health deparitment were received. There
being no objection, the Mayor ordered the reports filed.

TAXr'-'S. THEREFOR AND REPEALITVG CERTAIN ORDITvANCES", providing license fee
at 1.00 for male dogs and 2,00 for fema~.e dogs, was read for the second
time. It was moved by Councilman Meyer and seconded by Councilman Snyder
that said Ordinance be adopted as read the second time, finally pass and
be published as required by law,

The Communication from Acting Chief Chas, J. Miller relative
to the payment of 125.00 to R4otorcycle Officers J. Baser and C. Dederick
far trade-in value of their motors in the purchase of new ones to be
owned by the City, was brought up for consideration of the Council. It
was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Lake that we
concur in the recommendations of Chief Miller and that warrant be drav~an
on the City Treasurer in the amount of 125.00 each payable to said Motor- ~
cycle Officers J. Baler and C, Dederick.

~ commun ca on was received from Acting Police Chief Miller
reporting that the hot water heater located in the waments quarters of
the jail is not in good order and therefore hat water cannot be obtained
and heated as required by health regulations relative to incarceration
of prisoners in our City Jails; also a communication from Mr. F. M.
Sanders local plumber, submitting a prince of 52.50 for a new water
heater: There being no objection, the Mayor referred the matter to the
Building Inspector to see if the matter can be remedied,
..The City Clerk stated that Mr. 1~J. Larkin, Janitor at the
Roosevelt School reported that the Street in front of said Street, being
San Vincente is in a very bad condition; also that water stands at the
intersection of San Vincente and Norton Avenue, requesting that repair
be made in order to remedy the matter. Councilman Snyder also stated that
Bullis Road, between Morton Road and Imperial is in very bad condition
and should be repaired. There being no objection, the Mayor referred
the matter to the street Superintendent for investigation and report to
the Council his findings,
Councilman Lake again brought up the matter of salvage material
that may accrue from the water project, stating that Mr. Swanby returned
his check in the amount of 150.00 for said material, stating that Water
Superintendent Bateman recommends that we accept the check, if Mr.
Swanby is willing to take a chance an getting what salvage there will be
in the way of wooden pipe, etc.
However, after further consideration of the matter, it was duly
moved by Councilman Snyder that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise
for bids for salvage from said project following the items as listed in
~'ir. Swanby~s communication, which was duly seconded by Councilman Daet-
wEiler, and after roll call showed the following result:

The matter of request for grant deed by Southern California
Telephone Company was brought up, however, Mayor Boster stated that ne-
gotiations have not been completed, so no action was taken.
RESOLU`T'ION N0. 930, entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CI'T'Y OF L1~~TOOD AUTHORIZING THE CLERK OF THE ~ATATER DEPARTMENT TO
MAKE CERTAITa CREDITS ON HER BOOYuS AS PER LIST INCORPORATED IN THIS RESO-
LUTION", was read. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by
Councilman Snyder that said Resolution No. 930 be adopted.

The City Clerk was instructed to present a copy of Resolution iVo.
796 relative to approval of requisitions for study of the Council at the r
next meeting; also Resolution relative to the matter of making all pur-
chases for materials locally where prices and materials prove equal or
better,
It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Daet-
Weiler that the meeting adjourn to February 5th, 1935, at 7:30 P. M. Ali.
