HomeMy Public PortalAbout4th July comm 2017-06-21 Minutes '18 APR 24 3:52P1 Town of Orleans 4th of July Committee Wednesday,June 21, 2017 ORLEANS TOWN CLERK In Attendance: Committee Members; Bonnie Roy,Jane Peno, Deb Steven,Judi Weil, Barb Howerton, Sue Christie; Absent: Ingrid Moyer. Also in attendance: Wally Swidrak AGENDA ITEMS: Minutes of June 8, 2017 were unanimously accepted with Snow Library added as a table collecting place. Old Business: 1. Update From The Friends Of The Fourth: Fireworks • Letter to fishing fleet has been delivered. (Jane) • Bonnie reported for Peter.There have been 280 responses so far from the mailing. The Friends are hoping to pay for the printing and mailing costs as well as the fireworks. 2. Band Update • All set for bands • The NRMS Band does get an entry form because they don't get a band contract. They will be added to the database. • Judi will check with John Kelly's office about a $100 donation to the NRMS music program. 3. Vehicle Update • Barb has procured a convertible for theme contest winner Pat Perry will drive. • Judi is checking with Herb Kinnery to confirm he is driving Sue Keller. • Wally will check with VFW about using Barb's son's truck with trailer to give a break for walkers. 4. Entry Form distribution • The number of parade entrants is 24 which is typical for this far out of the parade. 5. NRMS and OES Staging • The banner will be hung across Main St early on June 26th • Peter O'Meara's two grand-nieces will again carry the committee banner. • Billy Giroux has been contacted and will post flags along the parade route. • Russ Holden will again be Uncle Sam • Carolyn Ward will be at the Awards Ceremony and will present the 1St place, Non-profit award, the Bob Ward memorial award. • Judi called the busses to ensure they move out of the NRMS lot. New contact person at First Student and she will be added to the database. 6. Parade Fundraising • Debbie Howerton is having difficulty finding folks to walk the parade route. Currently it is jus she and one other person. Debbie requested that we each try to come up with a person or two. • Jane suggested that we have a student group or team collect. Nauset football team to collect? 7.Timeline- Parade and Fireworks Prep/Committee Responsibilities Now • Distribute posters about the events to the realtors through Mary Lyttle (Deb) done • Deb distributed posters to the realtor offices in town. Some realtors were interested in being in the parade. • Nauset Disposal needs to distribute the porta potties early on the morning of the parade and fireworks. Sue will give them a reminder phone call a couple of days before. Wally will be at Rock Harbor early in the morning of the fireworks to direct the placement. • - Barb will pick-up the water bottles-4 cases little ones from each store Barb will have Steve and Glenda bring the ice to her house in the morning of the parade. They will fill big and small coolers with ice and water. Steve will deliver water, 1 big to NRMS and the rest to OES. • Post signs board (5), power station (1) and Nauset Beach admin (1) (Bonnie) • Make Theme Winner, Citizen of the Year, and Grand Marshal certificates (Barb) • Barb got magnetic names for theme winner vehicle • Print out and put in labeled envelopes the Antique Car Participation Certificates (Barb) • Numbers and names on colored tag board for entries (Bonnie/Deb) • Walking along with the parade -Judi W and Barb Eldredge Park Way and 6A, Deb Main St, Ingrid Rt28 • Contact Friends about flower donation and selling t-shirts (Jane) We need to get folks to volunteer to sell the t-shirts • Contact Land Ho about ice donation (Sue) done • Wally will remind the VFW walkers to go to OES. • We reviewed the Parade Day Job Charts • Pick up the fireworks and band checks on Thurs,June 29th in Town Manager's office New Business: The next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the Skaket Room at the Orleans Town Hall. ice d-- ,5u,bouteit,Q m L 612 9// a lukt_t_ "Ppi c Lekk
