The City Council of the City of Lynwood, met in a regular ses- sion, at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P. M. mayor Boster in the chair. Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Snyder and Boster answered the roll call. Councilman Daetweiler was absent. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of August 27th, 1935 be approved as Written. All members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. ' 1YRI TT~T GO~t~ti_TNICATIc~~?'S ; ' A com~nication was received from Mayor Berbough of the City -~** of San Diego urging the City to support them in their bid for the conven- tion of the League of California Municipalities for year 1936. No action was taken thereon, so the communication was ordered filed. A communication Was received from Herbert G. Rehfeld and W.u~ti. Wilson requesting a share of insurance business; also a commmunication from ~r.'Harry G. Berens, special agent for the Ocean Accident 8c Guar- antee Corporation, Ltd., giving result of survey made on insurance pol- icies covering City property and making certain recommendations. There being no objectiony the Mayor oi°dered the City Clerk to submit copies of the letter from Mr, H. G. Berens with respect to~the matter to each member of the Council for their study. A communication was received from City Engineer Bateman to the effect that the Southern California Edison Company requested him to sub- mit a proposal 'for consideration of the Council wherein said Company proposes a 40~ discount up to July 1st, 193? on any increase in overhead lights, which said rebate or reduction will only apply to lights turned on at locations where lights have formerly burned and not to-new con- struction, recommending that same be accepted as it may be desirous to, increase the lighting facilities next year. There being no objection, the Mayor ordered t~i.e matter laid over until the next meeting of the Council for furthur study. A communication was received from Mr.J. L. Pomeroy wherein they call attention to new legislation amending health regulations, suggesting that the City Attorney might check into the matter of model ordinance to be drafted by the County Counsel's office. There being no objection, the City Clerk was instruet~d to notify the City Attcr-ney as to his duty with respect to said matter. Report of activities of Building and License Department, Fire, Department, City Court and health Departments were received. There being no objection, same were ordered filed. ~~ ~ ~TNPSS; A communication was received from Engineer Bateman submit- ting application to PWA for loan and grant in connection with the con- struction of a storm drain, and while the application may be turned down, however, if denied the City can then make application to ~1PA for ap- proval, therefore, recommending that the Council pass a resolution in connection therewith. Thereupon RESOLUTION N0. 948, entitled: " A RESOLUTION AUTH- ORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD TO FILE AN APPLICATION TO THE iJNITED STATES OF AMERICA THROUGH THE FL:DERAL EMERGENCY ADMINISTRATION OF PU:t3LIC WORKS FOR A LOAN AND GRANT TO AID IN FINANCING THL CONSTRUC- TION OF STORM DRAINS, AND DESIGNATING C. G. BOSTEB TO FURNISH SUCH IN- FORMATION AS THE GOVESi~T~+ I~AY +QUEST", was read. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Snyder that said Resolution No. 948 be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Gouncilmen: Lake, Meyer, Snyder and Boster. Noes: None. ~° Absent: Councilman: Daetweiler. The audit report for fiscal year ending June 30th, 1935 was ~. received, showing result of audit of City books by Mr. L. H. Decker, C. P. A. also a copy was submitted to each councilman for study. There being no objection, said report was ordered filed, the Mayor request- ing that the Council study same.
