The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a regu~ ses- sion, at the City Ha11, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P.M. Mayor Roster in the chair. Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Nation, Snyder and Boster answered the roll call. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Lake that the minutes of the previous regular meeting cs>f October 15th, 1935 be approved as written. All members of tr a Council voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion carried. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS: inv tation was race ved from the Long Beach Boulevard As- sociation inviting the Council to attend their next meeting to be held at the Palms Twin Inn on Nbvemrer 7th, at 6:30 P. M. Thera being no objection, the Mayor ordered tre communication filed suggesting that any that can attend do so. A communication was received from Mr. John Pinto requesting a permit to overate a dance hall at 1022 Long ?leacH Blvd., under the terms of existing Ordinance, stating that he will discontinue to serve alco- holic beverages at the restaurant next door; also stating that he will not permit alcoholic beverages to be consumed in the dance hall. There- upon it was moved by councilman Snyder and seconded by councilman Meyer that permit be granted, subject to existing ordinance regul sting same. Motion carried and so ordered. A communication was received from Mr. H. W. Gray, proprietor of Gray's Dairy r'arms making application to establish a dance hall at 3311 Fernwood Avenue, agreeing not to serve any liquors in connection therewith whatsoever and will endeavor to conduct a lawful and respect- able establishment. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Nation and seconded by Councilman Snyder that the matter be referred to the Chief of Police for investigation and report back to the Council his findings. X11 members of the Council voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. A communication was received from E. W. Lewis, Captain in Charge of the Fire Department, accompanied by the resignation of Night Hallman Chas. A. Gallaher, stating that he regrets that it was necessary to ac- cept the resignation of Mr. Gallaher becaase of other day duties, and due to said resignation Mr. Dodson will continue in service as night callman, in lieu of vacation relief, which he hopes will meet with the approval of the Council. Thereupon it was moved bq Councilman Snyder and seconded by ~'ouncilman Lake that the acts of Mr. Lewis in said matters be ratified, and that the City Clerk be instructed to write a letter of appreciation to Mr. Gallaher for his svlendid service while a member of the Fire De- partment. All members of tre Co~~ncil present voting aye, the Mayor de- clared the motion carried. A communication was received from Genevieve M~Cleelan, 10742 Barlow Street, protesting about the way the accident that caused the death of her father, Philip Corneill, was handled; also about the publicity that was carried by local papers; also about the attitude of One Frank Mason. Mrs. McClellan and Tv1rs. YVilson also addressed the Council on the matter. There being no objection, the Matter was referred to Chief of Police Mil- ler for investigation. Report of activities of City Court, Police Department, Fire De- partment, and health reports were received. Applications for the position of Building Inspector were rer- ceived from the following: Horace B. Kinney, LeRoy F. Hamiliton, John A. Hanson, F. D. Evans, Ernest Svenson, Wm. Barrowman, C. Clyde Matheny~ P. M. Highley, Carl L. Willard, Geo. Grazier, Lewis W. Mille r, Allen L. Mc- Daniel, W. B. Crumley and E. M. Williams. Mayor Boster announced that because of so many applicants, it will be impossible for the Council to appoint a Building and License Collector this evening. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: e matter of a elinquent water bill of one Tandy was brought up for discussion and was turned over to the Chairman of the tAtater Com- mittee for investigation and disposal. 't'he matter of additional insurance as recommended by one H. G. Berens, special agent, to make the total amount carried on the City Hall 90~ of the value thereof, was brought up for discussion and after due con- sideration thereof, it was duly moved by Councilman Nation and seconded by Councilman Snyder that additional insurance in the amount of8,750.00 covering the City Hall. and other buildings and equipment not now covered against loss by fire re written Y±v tre 0^ean Accident ~C Guarantee Cor- poration, Ltd., for a veriod of three ,years at a premium cost of ~12~.50 to be divided as rer agreement executed by the maiority of the Council at a previous date, i. e., 40~ of the profit on premium to go to H. E. Zeiser, Agent for said Company and the remainder to be divided equalSy between Geo. R. iNood, Al Young, Claude Reber, Herbert ~Zehfeld & F. B. A communication was received from the Zoning Committee appointed to look into the matter of zoning for industrial purposes, accompanying by a diagram that they have agreed upon as feasible location therefor, being bounded on the west by Alameda Boulevard, on the north by Century Boule- vard "on the Fast by T]aa.ry T,ane, Penn Street, and the west ]~00 feet of the East line of tre J. J. Ru].lis Tract and the Commerce Tract, to the moat southerl4 Cites limits; thence south~ta Alameda Street; also to include the nr.esent site of. the Gragson Plant on "tate Street and Imperial. Highway. Trereupon it was moved by Councilman Meyer and seconded by Councilman Na- tion that the City Clerk be instructed to communicate with each member of the committee thanking them for their service in the matter and requesting that they continue to serve on the committee in the event the Council h~eve occasion to call upon them again, and that the City Attorney be instructed to check into the legal procedure that is necessary in order to establish zoning and report at the next Council meeting his finds. All members of the Council voting ale, the ~dayor declared the motion carried. ORIDINANCE 0. 263, entitled: MAN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOI CALIFORNIA, REQUIRING OWNERS OF VICIOUS DOGS TO KEEP 'AHEM UNDER CONTROL, AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF"., was rerad for the second time. It was moved by Councilman Lake -arid seconded by Councilman Snyder that same be adopted as read the second time, finally pass and be published as required by law.
