The City Council of the City of Lyn~rro od met in a regular session,
at tre City Ha11, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P.I.
In the absence of Mayer Boster, the meeting was called to order
by the City Clerk and upon roll call showed the following present:
Councilman Lake, Meyer, Nation and Snyder.
Piiayor Boster was absent.
The City Clerk announced that a motion would be in order for the
appointment of a temporary Chairman.
Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Meyer and seconded by Co~.zncil
man Nation that Councilman Snyder be appointed to act as Chairman and Mayor
~, pro tem. All members of the Gouncl present voting aye, the motion was duly
carried and i t !eras so ordered.
It was moved. by ^n~~nr'i~man never and seconded by Councilman Lake

115, Elks, inviting tle Council and City employees to attend their meeting
to be P_eld on r'ri:3.a;; night, January 10th, which has ben set aside a:s Civic
night. Chairman Snyder requestea each member to keep the meeting in mind
~d if' they possible can ao so, attend.
A communication was received prom the Lynwood Feed & Fuel Co.
requesting tr_~at a 10 minute loading zone be established in front of his
business at 3316 Imperial Highway. There being no objection, the matter
was turned over to the Chief of Police for investigation and recommenda-
tions.
A communicatiion was received s'r~m t+'aulkner Oakes & Faulkner mak-
ing application to co the City auditing. `there being no objection, the
communication was ordered filed.
A communication was received from the Hartford Steam Boiler In-
spection and Insurance Company cal ling attention to insurance policy expir-
ing on January 3rd covering electrical motors at Plant Nos. 2 and 3 and
submitting cost of same. There be3.ng no ob jection, the Chairman referred
the matter to Ci tv ~, ~;i_neer Bateman for written recommendations in the
matter. A communication was received .from the County Health Department,
by J. L. Pomeroy, M D cal ling attend. an to the provisions of Chab_ ter 725,
Statutes of 1935, requesting that a resolution be adopted in the event
the City wishes to ta~~e advantage of the never provisions. There be ng no
objection, tre m~ tter was turned over to the City Attorney tiv3 th the instruc•
tions that he draft a su3_table Resolution in connection therewith.
A communication ;eras received from the Commercial Union Fire Insur•
epee Company calling attention to policy expiring an January 30th, covering
City $uildings, and contents against loss by _f ire in th.e principal amount of
10,000.00. there being no objection, t~-e matter was tabled to next meet-
ing.

A commla.nication was received from Judge Ho~~j~ard Hemmenway Giving
history of a case in Eis Court tivhere the defendant was cited to appear on
trial on December 12th any ~r~ru suu.e error tires notified by Long Beach
Police Department ~i~dt tYie date ~vds December 17th, 1935, and vrhen he did
not appear on the 12th his Qail uuas t`orfeited, ap peering later on the 17th
as his understanding was, ana ~che C:~er k told him to appear on the 19th
the regular court night when the defendant, Bennie Stubblefield, entered
a plea of guilty and paid his fne, and one Ray Hanks who deposited the
bail thereupon made demand for the return of the bai 1 that he put up as a
guarantee of Stubblefield's appearance in Court, which has been impossible
to return because that warrant must be allowed by the City Council, there-
fore ..recommending .the return of bail as requested; also in order to pre-
vent a recurrence of a situation of this kind, recommending a new procedure,
Councilman Lake addressed the Council suggesting that the Court
Clerk be bonded in the excess of the amount .paw carried and that the Court
open up an aecaunt in the bank in order to ta?re care of the return of bail
bonds ~;vhen cases are disposed of .

month of December was reee~ved; also health report for ~~reek ending

regarding untidy surroundings adjacent to their property on account of
garage maintained in the residential district on Lindbergh Street at
Josephine St., the following Ordinance v~~hich was prepared by the City
Httorney, was introduced and read, for the first time.
An Ordinance of the City of Lynvrood, California, amending Sec-
tion 6 of Ordinance No. 17- entitled: "An Ordinance of the City of Lyn-
wood defining nuisances and prohibiting; their maintenance and fixing
a penalty therefor", and authorizing Civil action to abate nuisances,
"and repealing all ord,:x~ances and parts of ord' races i n conflict there-
with.
Thereupon it eras moved~by Councilman Lake and seconded by
Councilman Nation that same be accepted as introduced and read the
first time and pass to the second reading.

that the demands be allowed and Urarrants be drawn on the City Treasurer .for
said various amounts.

j that the °Cit~r Clerk be instructed to send letters o~ appreciation from
the City Council to all ivho contributed their services or money to the
building of the float that was entered in the Rose Tournament at Pasadena
on January lst, 1936, and compliment them on the results accomplished.

that the meeting adjourn to Jdn~..ary 21st, 1936, at 7:30 P M. All members

carried.
