Mr. K. r. `l'hompsan, 3656 E. lUf3th Street addressed the Council
onwhat has been done with respect to the proposed zoning in his district
of the City for industrial purposes. Mayor Boster informed Iv7r. Thompson ~"
that no action has been taken on the matter by the Council as yet, other
than order a check into the legal procedure that is necessary in order to
establish such zones, however, teat the matter will be taken up in the
near future when a date for hearing protests and ob jections v+rill be held
when any and all propert~* owners may be heard.
A communication v~ras received from the Los Angeles County League
of &~unicipalities requesting that one of the members of the Council be
designated as Director on the Los Angeles County League Executive Board.
Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Nation and seconded by Councilman
Iveyer and- that I~iav or Boster act in said capacity to represent the City
Council of Lynwood. All members of the Council present voting aye, the
P~Iayor declared the motion duly carried.
A communication was received from the City of Sierra Madre in-
viting the City Council to attend a meeting vprhen the matter of Equalization
of Taxes as between the incorporatP~i and Z,n.ncorporated areas of Los
Angeles Count~T will be d; scvsse~'. "''Pre tieing no ob jection same was
ordered filed, a.s said meet,n~ .,,ac to '~~ ~PJ_d this evening.

A communication was received 'rom chief of Police iviiller giving
quotation of 12 Smith ~ ~~esson "35'7" buns y~44.45 per bun, f. o. b.
factory, stating treat each officer has made a varitten statement as to
particular sight, etc., and have signified their willingness to carry
through payments without interruption on any moderate agreement as to
the purchasing of the guns from the City of Lynvtiiood, Chief Tr~iller stating
that such a purchase t~rould standardize the equipment; also giving aL?o-
tations on shells and reloading equipment and capital outlay in the
amount of X152..75. Thereupon it eras moved by Councilman Lake and
seconded by Councilman enyder that the chief of Police be authorized to
purchase guns at X44.45 each as needed in order to standardize the
equipment, and that a plan be worked out vrtr. th tre Officers for rein-
bursement to the City of said amounts covering a period of 12 months,
hovvever, the title to such equipment to be vested in the City of L~m-
wood until fully paid.

A communication was received from City Attorney Ruby reporting ,
on the petition by property owners to open up a street between Carlin
Avenue and Euclid Ave., west of Alpine Ave. to the effect that it will be
necessary for abbuting property owners to execute deeds therefor unless
the City wishes to condemn the land for street purposes, vrhich he under-
stands the Council do not wish to do. There being no objection, the Mayor
stated he would contact interested nroberty owners with the Engineer to
ascertain if deeds cannot be rror,,.~rred from all lot owners.

~ _ A cornrriunication was received from Chief of Police Miller re-
commending that a green lien minute parking zone be established at 3316
Imperial Highway in front of the Lynvrood Feed & Fuel Co. as requested at
the last regular meeting. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Meyer and
seconded by Councilman Nation that the City Attorney be instructed to
draft an amendment to the parking ordinance to provide for a ten minute
zone at above address as recommended by the Chief. of Police. All members
of the Council voting afire, tre Pr?ayor declared the motion duly carried and
it was so ordered.
A communication trras received from Engineer Bateman reporting on
the South Gate- Lynwood sign to the effect that he contacted the C3_ty of
South Gate and they inform him that due to lack of funds they are un-
willing to incur the expense of a new sign at said location, however,
that they are in favor of removing same. Thereupon it was moved by
Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Snyder that the City Engineer
work with the City of South Gate in having said sign removed. All
members of the Council voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly
carried and it was so ordered.
A communication was received from Engineer Bateman regarding
the insurance on the eJ ectrica7_ motors and equipment in the ~'Jater De-
partment, makinr~ no recor,mPndat~ ens t?~ereon, however, if any is taken

The matter of ~1U,000.00 fire insurance whioh. expires on
January 30th, 1?36, svgs brought up, and the City- Clerk announced that
~+'~r. ti"u'. ~~ ~Jilson had made application Pon a portion thereof, however, he
not being a licensed insurance agent in i,ynvrood and does not maintain a
regular office, he was not given t"avorable action.
Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by
Councilman Ivieyer that said Fire Insurance policy covering the City Hall
and other buildings in the amount of 410,000.00 be written and let to
the Commercial Union Fire Insurance Company, and the profits from the
premium to be divided equally between Zeiser ~ Zeiser, Geo. R. l'Vood,
AI Young, Claude Reber, Herbert Rehf_eld & F. B. Rowlee.
