The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a regular session,
at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P.M.
Mayor Boster in the chair.
Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Nation and Boster answered the roll call.
Councilman Snyder was absent.
It was moved by Councilman Meyer and seconded by Councilman
Nation that the minutes of the previous regular meeting of May 19th, 1936
be approved as written. All members of the Council present voting aye, the
Mayor declared the motion duly carried.

It was moved by Councilman Lake anal seconded by ^,o~~ncilman
Nation tY:at the re iection of such appointment by Dr. Darsey rA accepted
with regrets. xll members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor
declared the motion duly carried.
A communication was received from Ivlr. George S. Haaze submitting
bill for ~p25.00 for 30 feet of hedge and 1-1:5 year old Apricot tree which
was destroyed by fire when the parkways were being burned. Ivlr. Haaze
also addressed the Council on the matter. There being no ob~3ection, the
Mayor referred the matter to City Engineer Bateman for consideration and
recommendation at the next meeting of the Council.
A communication was received from the Los Angeles health Depart-
ment suggesting certain action in connection with respect to Ordinances
pertaining to health regulations in the City of Lynwood, stating that
they are cooperating tivith the City Attorney's Association of Southern
California and that they expect to submit to the Council for consideration,
a health and sanitary code, embodying the regulations which seem desirable
supplementary to State laws. There being no objection, the communication
was ordered filed until the proposed ordinance is presented for consider-
ation of the Council.
~, A communication was received from Pdr. Jeff Marsh, 5890 Maywood
Ave., Maywood, Calif., making application for a. license to carry on, con-
duet and operate a business of aceepti.ng, receiving, forwarding and pay3.ng
of bets, and wagers on the resixlt of horse racing, as per the City
Ordinance, the location to be 17,E-~0 Tong Reaoh Blvd. At this time Council•
man Snyder arrived and took his swat at the Council table. Thereupon it
was moved by Co~~ncilman Nati ~n and seconded by Co~anei_lman Meyer that the
matter be tarZe~? vn_til next re~~~lar meeting of the Co~_incil and that it
be referred to the rite Attorney ~'or opinion to ren~rt at said time.

ti communication was received from Uharles F. Getchell submitting
demand for 112 hours tlrne for work performed on lviay 7th and 8th, 1936 on
building band stand. '1'Ylereupon it was moved by Councilman Nation and
seconded by Councilman Snyder that tvlr. Getchell bill be allowed at the
rate of 50~ per hour and that a warrant be drawn on the City Treasurer
for the amount of X5.75 to pay such demand.

An Agreement ?~laiving Violation of Restrictions as between the
City of Lyn~,vood and the Security-First 1~?ational Bank of Los Angeles as
pertaining to the sale of intoxicating liquors on Lots 3'76 and 377, Tract
~.-, No. 2551, was received. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and~seconded
;~ by Councilman Meyer that said Agreement be accepted and that t e Mayor
bH authorized to execute same for and on behalf o.f the City of Lynwood.
All members of the Council voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly
earsied and it was so ordered.
A communication was received from Attorney Stanley Moffatt
calling attention to the terrible condition of Long Beach Boulevard in
Lynwood caused by cuts by public service companies, suggesting that they
be properly repaired. There be;n~ nn c,h iection, the Manor referred the
matter to City Fn~;ineer ~atett'an ~n~ the Street Co~~missioner for necessary
fiction.

ordered filed.
Reports of activities of rite and City Court Departments were
received; also health report.

mand for X75.00 for professional services rendered the city in the Superior
Court of the State of California in and for the county of I,os Angeles,
T~To. 352278 and entitled Vetran t~icca, I'laintif'f, vs. Anna NI. Skinner,
Alice Rutter, Brewton Rayne, and the City cf Lyntivood, Defendants, where-
ir_ the Plaintiff brought action for300.00 together with interest thereon
at the rate of 7~ per annum from November, 1923 for award in connection
with condemnation proceedings on Imperial Blvd., alleged to have been
paid to wrong person, stating that iudgment was entered in favor of the
City of Lynwood.
There being no objection, the demand was ordered included with
the demands to be allowed later in the meeting. "~"

moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Council~aan Snyder that said
Resolution TIo. 964 be adopted.

There being no objection, the 1Yayor instructed the City Clerk
to notify the Department heads to submit their estimated expenditures for
the ensuing fiscal year ir. order that work ma.y be commenced on the
balancingof the budget.
Mayer Boster reported on a meeting that was held ir. conjunction "~"
with the Coordinating Council when problems effecting the young girls of
the City were considered and it was sv.~gested at the meeting that suitable -
quarters be provided to be used as a Club House, stating that he had
looked into the renting of the building located or. the corner of Carlin
and Long Beach Blvd., and they want X45.00 rent per month. No action was
taken thereon, bizt it was decided that the Council meet in a body with
the organization to have it more fully explained.
Councilman Lake addressed the Council to the effect that he _
believes some movement should be commenced to establish a Federal Building
to accommodate the Post Office here, and he ~a~ould like to see the Council
petition the Postal Officials to bv.ild a ne~R~ Host office in Lynwood.

a suitable Resolution for consi.deratiOn ~~ t~P rrn~nci.l at their next
regular meeting.

recommending that the City purchase same.
Thereupon it was moved by Oouncilman Lake and seconded by
Councilman Snyder that the city clerk he authorized to purchase the mimeo-
graph as listed above.

Meyer that the hearing in connection with dilapidated bu9lding in the
City of Lynwood be continued. All members of the Council voting aye,
the Mayor declared the motion carried and it was so ordered.
It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman
Snyder that the meeting adjourn to Thursday,- June -4th, 1936, at 5:30 P.M.
