In the absence of iulayor roster, the meeting was called to order by Deputy City t~lerk t'earl ~. i+.orris, who served in the absence of the City clerk and upon roll call showed the following present: Councilmen Lake, lvieyer, nation and Snyder. Mayor Boster was absent. The Clerk announced that a motion would be in order for the appointment of a temporary Chairman and Mayor protein. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer that Council- man Cecil E. Snyder be appointed temporary Chairman and Mayor protein. ~Nhereupon Councilman Snyder took his seat as chairman. It was moved by Councilman T_~ak~e and seconded by Councilman 'Nation that the minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of August 11th, 1936, b e approved as written. All members of -the Council present voting - aye, the Mayor pro tem declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS: A communication was received from Mrs._Rose Streeter, second Vice President of the Huntington Park Woman's Club, asking permission of the Council to place a banner at Long Beach Blvd, and Cedar Avenue, also to place traffic d3rectin+~ cards along these two streets to 3700 Cedar Avenue where t~'ev are ho1~~n~ a Country Fair on Sept. 11, 1936. It was moved rv Councilman T,akP and seconded by councilman Nation that permiss3-on ?~e ~*rarted to do so, any that game ~e referred to Chief of Police T"i11er. All members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor pro tem declared tre motion duly carried and i{; was so ordered. The health report for week ending August 8th, was received and ordered filed. UNI~'INISHED BUSINESS ti communication was received from H. ti. Kimmey, Building Inspector reporting upon his investibation on complaint from ari existing semi-dairy business being carried on in the residential district in the 3200 block of Carlin Ave., and upon his investigation did not find such to be the case and not being able to locate any one in said vicinity that was in any way annoyed with the passing in and out of trucks. Then being no objection the Mayor pro tem ordered said letter filed. NE~9 BUSINESS r~i ordinance of tl^e City of Lynwood fixing the rates of Taxes and levying taxes for the fiscal year beginning July 1st, and ending June 30th ,_ 1937 was introduced and read by caption for the first reading It was moved by Councilman Nation and seconded by Councilman bake that the reading in full of said ordinance b~e waived and that same be accepted and pass to the second reading. It was moved by Councilman Nation and seconded by Councilman Lake that Chief of Police Miller be authorized to purchase and super- vise the necessary additional equipment for the new car being purchased. Brewster regarding the burning of hi.s hedge by the weed burning crew was brought up for fur- ther consideration, Pllr.
