The City Council of the Cite of Ljrnwood met in a regular ses- sion at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P. P+.. I~~ayor Boster in the chair. Councilmen Take, rR~,~Qr, rT~i-i on, "nyder and Boster answered the roll call. '°.~ ITTEId C OMPrIUNI CAT I DNS =~ communic=atop was received from the City of Santa Ivionica inviting the City officials to attend .the :58th annual convention of the League of California lviunisipalities to be held in aanta ivtonica, Septem- ber 9, 10, 11 and 7~2 when an outstanding program will be field. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded ray councilman ivleyer that the City Clerk be appointed as the of~'icial delegate to represent the City of Lynwood and the City Treasurer be appointed as an alternate delegate. A11 members of the Council voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. A communication was received from the Downey Chamber of Com- merce inviting the City of T~ynwood to participate in the First Annual Recreation Day program to be held at Downey on September 18th and 19th and requesting that the City enter afloat in the parade, or some other suitable entry. No action was taken thereon, excepting that the Coun- cil were requested to keep the date in mind and attend if possi?~le. A communication was received from Poatmaster E. C. Halverson, announcing that the Post Uff'ice Department have granted better delivery service for the City of Lynwood, outlining the territories that will be benefited thereb;~. There being no objection, the Niayor ordered the com- munication filed. A communication Maras received from the 1915 Improvement Bond Act Committee reporting on nro~ress in connection with the 1915 Improve- ment Bond Act cases that ha~re beer hP1.~, being final report. There be- ing na objection, the matter waq ref~trred to the attention of the City' with instruct~i or*s' to nrer~are' a cony of °a~me -for each member of the Coun- cil for study. ~'~ communication was received from the City Pl~nnin~ Commis- sion, recommending that the City purchase P1eon ~"delcome signs for the City of Lynwood submitting bids that have been filed with the. There being no objection, the matter vaas referred to the attention of the Chief of Police s.nd rolice Commission f oz' consideration. A communication was received from l~~r. r'loyd Richardson mak- ing demand in the amount of ~6Uu.Uu for alleged salary due as a Police Officer of the City. There being no objection, the matter was turned over to the City tittoa~ney for study and opinion. Report of activities of the Police, City Court for the month of August, and the health report, were received and ordered filed. UNFINIS?-iED BUSINESS he matter of the heal th contrast on a new basis for fiscal year 1936-37 was brought up, but action thereon was deferred until a later date when the City Attorney has completed hi_s study on the matter. ~l'he audit report for fiscal year ending June 30th., 1936 was received as submitted by Arnold Hillis. There being nc objection, same was ordered filed. `1'he City Attorney was instructed to proceed with the proceed- ings in connection zoning for industrial purposes as recommended by the Committee that was appointed for such purpose some tine ago. Motion carried and i t ti•a=~s s o ordered. the matter of letti ng the audit for the fiscal year 11936-37 was brought up for considerat ion, bu t the matter was laid over to a later date and the City Clerk was in structed to have copies made of the proposals already submitt ed for study of the Council. x communication was receiv ed from the Hollenbeck Borough Voluntary Board giving their ideas o n some new Governmental set-up. There being no ob3ection, the Mayor instructed the City Clerk to have copies made thereof for further study of individual members of the Council. It was moved by councilman Nation and. seconded by Councilman Lake that the Council appropriate 100.00 for tt~e purchase of bunting suitable for Street c~ecorat3.ons on special occasions. Roll Call' Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Nation,Snyder and Boster. Noes: None. There being no objection, the TVayor appointed Councilmen Meyer and Snyder to make such purchase. It was moved by vouncilman Nation and seconded by Councilman ~1eyer that Engineer Bateman"be instructed to have tvro of the tables in the park repaired and painted and placed for the convenience of citizens who may wish to use same to sit on and to play games.
