It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded htr Councilman Snyder that the minutes of the previous regular meeting of November 17th, 1936 be approved as written. Johnston and Family and one from Mrs. Ida 6+i. Kice and family thanking for floral offering and ex- pressions of sympathy during illhess and death of their respective hus- band and father. There being no objection, the communications were or- dered filed. Request for change of location of light on Sanborn Avenue was received from Mr. Zeimer; also request from Nirs. Ruth y~olff wishing one turned on on San Jose Street; also petition signed by H. J. Kinskin and 8 others requesting one restored at 3533 and 3527 E. Carlin Ave. It was moved by Councilman Nation and seconded by Councilman Meyer that said matters be referred to the same committee who inspected former complaints, consisting of Mayor Buster, Councilman Meyer and Engineer Bateman. All members of the Council voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly car tied. The committee was also requested to inspect the light at the bend on .east Imperial Highway. Vilven stated that she wolald be glad to deed the set back on which the sidewalk is located to the Cit:~ if they agree to fix ,the sidewalk in question without charge to her, stating that the City agrees to do cer- tain things at one time if she would set back the buildings to conform to the set back line there, however, that she did not have anything in writing to that effect, statinb that she has set back the buildings which cost her considerable money, theref ore she would appreciate it if the Council could see their way fit to do the work. ~4rs. Vilven was instructed to have deed prepared for eansi- deration of the Council at an adjourned meeting to be held on December 2nd , 1:936 . It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman meyer that Mrs. Vilven be granted an extension of time to fulfill the notice as required by law until after, said adjourned meeting. All mem- bers of the Council voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly car- ried. . A communication was received from the. First Security Deposit Corporation calling attention to nuisance that exists at 2614 E. 111th Place, which is detrimental and obnoxious to the territory and property owners, selling attention to fowls being too close to houses; also old lumber, cans strewn over the Lot from which numerous bedbugs migrate; also stating that disagreeable odors emanate from existing outside toilet; City Glerk Anderson stated that the complaint had already been turned over to the Health authorities and is being investigated, stating that one person has already connected to f,ne sewer. communication «rAs received from the State Commission for Protection of Children and Animals ?ro~th contract for collection of dog licenses attached, requesting the contract for _the ensuing year. A communication was .received from Mr. Ceor~e Herman, Pound- master of South Gate, reauesting the contract and offering? his service at60/ of dog licenses collected. A communication was received from Dr. F. E. Estes, Dist. Health Officer urging the Council to award the contract to the State Commission for Protection of Children and Animals as they have coopera- ted with them in handling; of stray animals and particul-arty in the con- trol_ of rabies. There being no objection, the matter was laid over until the next meeting of, the Council. . Protests for weed charge on the tax statement for year 1936 - 37 were received from the following: W. D. Chrisman~ H. 0. Hutcheson, EarlyM. Poor, John Vivalda, and Mrs.. Lora Bray. There being no ob jec- tion, same were referred to the City Engineer for investigation and re- commendation. ~~ Report of activities of Police Department, City Court for the month of November and the health report for week ending November 21st, 1936, were received and ordered filed. UAT~'INI"i?El~ BUSINESS ng Weer ateman reported in writing on the matter of re- quest that Pendleton Avenue be opened westerly from Atlantic Avenue, submitting letter from one Mr. E. Burr owner of Lot A of Tract 5103 stating that he wants 500.00 for his Lot needed for the opening of said Street. There being no ob3eetion, the Mayor ordered the com- munication filed, instructing the City Clerk to communicate with Mr. Krause advising him that the City will be glad to grade the proposed Street when and if he procures the necessary easements for said ren- dleton Avenue extension. An Ordinance, entitled: "An Ordinance of the City of Lyn- wood, California, desi~nat3ng certain "treets and Avenues and Boule- vards in said City as through Highways, andrequirin~ certain boule- vm~rd stops; and nrohi~iting "tT" turns at designated points on said through highways; and designating certain nedestt~.an crossings, and re- quiring vehicles to stop thereat; and providing for certain boulevard stops on specified streets, avenues, boulevards, and alleys in the City of I~ynwooc~, and repealing Ordinance No. 129, 1:~4, I93 and 238, and all other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, was introduced and read for the first time. It was moved by Councilman :~nyder and seconded by ~ouneilman Meyer that said ordinance be accepted as introduced and read the first time and pass to the second reading. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, M-ever, Nation, Snyder and Boster. Noes: None. The application for reduction of license rate to do elec- trical contracting in the City of Lynwood was brought up for consi- deration of the Council again. It was duly moved by Councilman Na- tion and seconded by Councilman Lake that the request be denied and that the City Clerk inform the applicant Mr. B. J. wily of the ac- tion taken. NEW BUSINESS It was moved by Councilman Nation and seconded by Council- man Lake that the City contribute ~PT00.00 for the construction of a float for the Rose 2'ournament at Pasadena on January 1st, 1937. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, ~~ever, Nation, Snyder and Boster. Noes: None. It was moved bar Councilman MP~er and seconded by vouneil- man Snyder that the Chief of Police be instructed to nurcha.se a "'Not Through "treat" sign for installation on Poplar ^rive at State Streett; and a sign to be placed on Long Beacr Boulevard at Mulford Avenue painting to the City Hall. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Nation, Snyder and Boster. Noes : Iuone . It was moved by councilman ~nycer and seconded by vouncil- man Lake that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay water d@posit refunds by endorsed eneck by Depositor out of the Yetty cash Fund. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by council- man Lake that the Building Inspector be instructed to investigate the building where the Lynwood Cooperative Unemployment Unit is located, and make recommendations as to the procedure to follow, at the next meeting of the Council.
