Ci.~y Council..of_ the City of Lynwood met in an_ ad~aurned regular_ me eti~ig, at the City. HalIl, 113.31 Plaza. Street, at ?s30 M. Mayor Buster in the chair. Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Nation and Koster answered the .roll call. Councilman Snyder was absent. At 8 o'c~.ock P. M. the Mayor declared a recess in order to oonfer with Mr. Bradberry, representing bonds in Acquisition and Im- provement District No. 19 (Imperial Highway}, and to confer with a Mr. Behnke regarding Acquisition and Improvement Districts No. 6 and I0. At 9 o'clock P. M., the Mayor again called the meeting to order. Councilman Nation addressed the Council to the effect that Councilman Snyder,-Chairman of the Recreation Commission, requested that he bring up before the Council the matter of grading dots between Virtue's establishment and Mr. Looney's and between Dr. McMeekins and Happy Timer's station in order that the Recreation Department can plant grass thereon to furtr,er their recreation program. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the Citg Clerk be instructed to communicate with the nrot~erty owners within said area and endeavor to het consent to use the lots within said area. A~.1 members of the Council noting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The matter of furnishing tables for use of ~.he recreation department i~n ttae back of the City yard was brought up for consideration. Chief of Police Miller informed tae Council that there are a couple of tables at the Police station that migat be used. Thereupon Chief. Miller was requested to have the tables transported~to said room. A petition was received from Mr. L. A. tiar.ter, signed by Wm. x. Rouleau, and 9 others in .tae vicinity of 4837 Imperial Highway, con- senting to the establishment of a small dairy back of said address where a maximum of TO cows are to be kept. Inasmuch as the petitition is ncrt signed by 51~ of the pro- perty owners owning property within a radius of 1000 feet, the City Clerk was instructed to return the petition to Mr. Harter informing him that it will be necessary that he fully comply with Ordinance No. 124 in con- nection therewita before the Council can grant him permission to esta- blish a dairy at said location. A communication was received from the Chief of Police, Mr. Miller, wherein he submitted letters containing quotations on the pur- chase of equipment of paint stripes along the boulevards in the City of Lynwood; also drawing of ame; also proposal from the County of Loa Angeles to do the work for263.40 for one painting; the welded Fabrica- ion Company offering to sel'- a spray gun machine to do the work for. 300.00; and the Spray Chun c~le~s ~ Service Company offering a Tike spray gun machine at ~319.30~ Chief ~?ilia r informing the C©uncil that two paintings are necesa~arp ,yearly, therefore it would be cheaper in the ~ong run to rurchase the equipment as the paint required would run about 60.00; also recommending the purchase of the equipment b® made out of other funds than those set up in the budget for the Police Department, however, that the equipment be purchased as a part oP the equipment of his Department, and his department be charged with the care and keeping of same . After due consideration of the matter, Council nation sugges- ted that the matter belaid over until the next meeting of the Council when an esti®ate can be made of other expenses in connection with at- tempting to clean up certain Mattoon Act bend districts, which was or- dared. Thereupon it°was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the meetingad~ourn to February 2nd, 1937, at 7330 P. M.
