Mayor bolter in the chair. Councilmen Lake, Nieyer, Nation, Snyder and Bolter answered the roll call. It Ural moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Lake that the minutes of the previous adjourned regular meeting of March 9th, 1937 be approved as written. Allmembers of the Council voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. The hour of 8 P. NI. having arrived, said time being the hour fixed for continuing the hearing in connection with the proposed master plan for zoning the City of Lynwood for regulation of buildings. The City C1?rk presented two written communications relative to the matter; one signed by Mr. and Nirs. Henry Robinson and 7 others objecting to have Peach Street, rettA~eer Reechwood and Fernwood, inclu- ded in the light manuf act~~ri.ng zone n~ or ~'or commercial use, request- ing; that same be left as turned in ~~* '-?~~ ~'l~nnin~; Commission. A communication rues also rPCeived from ~'. C. Ferree ~+nd Elsa L. Ferree requesting thPt 7;ot 1, 'he included in the commercial zone, being Rloct.~ I6,T~o~? eska Park, and be thus snot zoned ~'on ris gro- cery store. J Nor. and Mrs. Stange also addressed the Councilor t?~e matter of zoning requesting that Feach Shree be not included in the light man- ufacturing district; also vir. Olson. Mr. V~leber also addressed the Caun- ci1 requesting that his place be included in the manuf acturing zone. After due consideration of the matt~:r, it was duly moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman unyder that the hearing be continued to the next regular meeting; to be held on April 6th, 1937, at 8 P. Ni. All members of the Council voting aye, the 14i~y or declared themot,ion duly carried. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: Mr. George Grazier addressed the Council regarding the new roofing ordinance that was recently adopted, reading a communication that he read ~rherein he objects to Section 2 and Section 3, as it. does not permit an owner to do his work above three squares, believing that such should not be the case; also stating that according to the word- ing of the Ordinanre it would prohibit even a roofing mechanic to do his own work, stating that in his opinion it gives roofers a monopoly. Mr. G~Pazier was assured by ~~4ayor Bolter that the matter would be looked into and if the ordinance is found unreasonable, same will be amended to correct same. ~~'IPITTFN COMMUNICATIONS communication was received from Mrs. Florence Korhn invit- ing the Council to attend a baked harp ~~nner at the St Emydius Church on-Sunday, March 21st, from tt~~~o to se~~Pn, t~P price being 50~ per plate. There being no ob3ection, the matter was referred to City Attorney"Ruby to check up on the legality of such matter. A deed was received from the Security-First National Bank of Los Angeles covering the North 2,0 feet of the West 60 feet of Lot 11, Tract 4936, Tocated on T~~reed~r Boulevard in the City of Lynwood. It was moved by Councilman PJ:eyer and seconded by Councilman Snyder that said deed be acce*~ted and the City Clerk be instructed to have same recorded in the Recorder's office of Los Angeles County, Califom ia. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Nation, Snyder and Bolter. Noes:None. A resort ~raa_s received from Mr. ~o'~ert R. Mo~'fitt, ren~rtin~; on progress in connection with settlement of Matt'o~n Act bond orliga- tion on Imperial Highway. There being no objection, same was ordered filed. A communication ,eras received from the Lynwood Free Employment ~ Bureau giving resume of activities of the Bureau; also health report-was received. There being no objection, same were ordered filed. A communication was received from Chief of Police Miller sub- mitting bill for dues to Los Angeles County Peace Officers Association in the amount of 2.50 for the year, recommending that same be renewed. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Na- tion that 2.50 be aprropriated for renewal of membership of dues in the L. A. County Peace Officers Association. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Nation, Snyder and Boster. Noes: None. An application was received from Mr. H. M. Deeds to establish a business of Junk Iron and Steel at Cherokee and Long Beach Boulevard for purpose of segregating 3unked auto parts, etc. Mr. Deeds also ad- dressed the Council on the matter. After due consideration of the matter it was duly moved by Coun- cilm~n Lake and seconded by Councilman Nation that the request be denied. Behnke, by whicr ?~e proposes to acquire and retire the A. °- I.Bonds of n~.striet Nos. 6 and 10 in the City of Lynwood, ruling that the nurboses expressed there- in are legally capable of aceom~lishment, suggesting certain changes in wording, stating that the trust does not bind the City of Lynvrood nor in any wise render trae City liable for the actions of either the ~l'rustee or the members of the hdvisory noar~d dnd is a general plan of action; also stating that the Lscorw lnstr•uctions submitted by ~-r. Behnke appear suf- ficient in form and substance to carry out the purpose for which they are to be used, stating that if the deal is not finally worked out that all money paid into escrow by the property owners must be returned, except 50¢ per lot for escrow charge. Thereupon RESOLUTION N0. 979, entitled: 'tA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0~' LYN1°JOOD ENDORSING THE PROGRAM OF THE TRUST ACxREEMENT FOR ACQ??IRING ANn RELEASING ACQUISITIOII AND TMPROV~NiENT DIST- RICTS NOS. 6 AND 10't, was read. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Snyder that said Resolution No. 979 be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Nation, Snyder and Boster. - Noes: None. It was moved by Councilman Meyer and seconded by Councilman Nation that the City Clerk be authorized to approve bills up to 100.00 as a preliminary sum for incidental expenses in connection with said Trust Agreement of Mr. Behnke's and property owners of. said districts. Kimmey tender- ing his resignation as Building Inspector as he is planning on entering the contracting business in Los Angeles, thanking the Council for their cooperation in the past. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the resignation re accepted to take ef- fect on March 18th, 1937, however, that he be allowed two weeks vacation with pay from March 18th to April 1st, 1937.
