Mayor Boster in Councilmen Lake, the roll call. of the City of Lynwood met in a regular 11331 Plaza Street, on the above date, the chair. b'eyer, Nati on, Snyder and Boster answered It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Coun- cilman Lake that the minutes of the previous adjourned regular meeting of June 29th, 1937 be approved as written. All members of the Council voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. ~IRITTEP. CO~UI~ICATIOI~S communica ion was received from Raymond T~zitehell making application to install and operate a cabinet shop in the former tract office of the Badger ~ De~~~itt Co. in the 4300 block between Linden and Elm on the north side of Century Blvd. After due con- sideration of the matter, ~it was duly moved by Councilman T~lation that the application be denied on the basis that it is in the residential area anc~ in violation of the proposed zoning ordinance now up for final consideration of the Council, which was duly seconded by Councilman Lake. All members of the Council voting aye, the ~~ayor declared the motion duly carried. A communication was received from Alma E. Linkey sub- mitting offer to sell certain. Series of "S'T and "U" 1915 type im- provement bonds in the amount of X874.24 for the sum of ;750.00. There being no objection, the City Treasurer was instructed to inform Alma E. Linkey that the Council are not interested in dealing at said price. ORAL COPtiu~~~UNICATI0I~S :r. r. an representing Foster & Kleiser, addressed the Council on the matter of the new ordinance which will ban out- door advertisements stating that his firm have always kept up their signs in a presentable manner, alleging that the present ordinance has not been adhered to and that they do not think that they should be barred just because others do not live up to the ordinance, re- questing any information that they might receive as to how they could improve their sins, giving a history what an important part they play in the advert isiy~~ busi:~iess . No action was taken on the matter. A Legislative Bulletin was received from the League of California Yrfunieipalities, giving a resume of bills that have been signed by Governor Aierriar~ about which the Cities are concerned; also questionnaire on what subjects the Council prefer to have dis- cussed at the eonventior~ to bs held at Santa Cruz in September, 1937. There being no objection, said communications were ordered filed. A eo~ununication was received from Paul E. Strain, publisher of the Lynwood Press and Tribune submitting their bid to do the legal advertising for the City, quoting pries of 65~t per column inch for the first insertion and 50~ per column inch for each subsequent in- sertion. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman. 'rvieyer that said bid be accepted and the P.fayor be author- ized. to execute a contract for and on behalf of the City of Lynwood on the basis of said bid. as quoted above. D., Deputy Health Officer of the County of Los Angeles Health Department informir_g the Council that pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 228 of the City of Lynwood they are declaring that in their judgment the public health and safety is endangered from rabies, and therefore, they hereby decl are and establish a quarantine of . the whole of the City of Lynwood until such time as it may be deemed advisable to lift the same. During the time of the quarantine it shall be unlawful for any person owning or having charge of any dog, to permit same to be or run at large upon any street, lane or court, other public place, or upon any private property or premises other than those of the person owning or having charge thereof within the incorporated limits of the City of Lynwood, unless the dog be restricted by a substantial chain or leash not exceeding six feet in length and in charge of a competer_t person not less than 15 years of age. A communication was received from Chas. H. Petersen & Co. making application to do the City auditing for the next fiscal year. There being no objection, the communication was ordered 111 filed and the City Clerk was instructed to get a bid Pram the present auditor. Report of activities of City Court was received covering the month of dune; also health report. NEB BUSINESS: . 994, entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUIt?CIL OF THE CITY OF LY~;'p'OOD DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ORDER STREET LIGHTING SERVICE ON CERTAIN STREETS IN THE CITY OF LYN'~100D FOR A PERIOD BEGIPYIITIIiG JULY 1, 1937, AND ENDIP4G JUNE 30TH, 1938, was read. It was moved by Councilman Nation and seconded by Councilman Snyder that said Resolution No. 994 be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, b~eyer, Nation, Snyder and Barter. Pioes : bone . Certificate transmitting final report of the planning Commission on toning Ordinance with map attached, giving minutes of the meetings held in connection therewith, togsther with affi- davits of publication Iotices of Hearing, designated as Exhibits A~ B, C, D, E, was received. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Iy~eyer that same be accepted and that the City Clerk be instructed to publish notice of hearing of said Loning Ordinance in the Lynwood Press to be held on July 20th, 1937, at 8 P, ~~.
