The City Council of the City of Lynvaood met in a regular session at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:3~'~ P.~.~. A!(ayor Bolter in the chair. Councilmen Lake, TJteyr~r, Nation and Bolter answered the roll call. Councilman Snyder w~~s absent. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Coun- oilman Meyer that the minutes of the r~revious adjourned regular meeting of November 30th, 1;37, be approved as written. All mem- bers of the Council bresent voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. WRITTEN COiVIIyi_UNICATIONS; A communication was received from the Municipal Fiscal „~ Officers of Souther n California announcing their next meeting to be held at the Woman's Club, 3655 Fernwood, on Friday evening, De- cember 10th, at 6:30 P. M. There being no objection, the Mayor ordered same filed requesting all to attend that possibly can. A communication was received from Regina Peters owner of Lot 934, Tract 3172, requesting refund of weed assessment charged against said Lot as same is being used for gardening and remainder of weeds were cut under instruction of owner. A communication was also received from Osa E. Fishback re- questing return of weed assessment fee charge against Lot 880, Tract 3172 as same was cleared by ova=per. There being no objection, said matters were referred to Engineer Bateman for checking and report. A communication tivas received from The American Legion in- viting the Council to attend a meeting at their Club house on De- cember 9th, 1937, at 8 P.It2. when they are sponsoring a Lave Enforce- ment program. There being no objection, said communication was or- dered filed, and all were urged to attend. A report of activities of City Court for month of November was received. There being no objection, said report was ordered filed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: A~communication wa.s received from City Engineer Bateman to the effect that he had checked up on the set back for building in Tract No. 5222 and that he finds that no building or part of a build- ing erected upon any lot in said tract, excepting the Ld's fronting on Long Beach Boulevard, shall be closer than 25 feet from the front line of said Lot, stating that this restriction apparently would not apply to the Lot in question. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Nation a.nd seconded by Councilman Lake that the City Attorney be in- structed to prepare the necessary papers for the vacation of a por- tion of the right of way for State Street when the owner and~or Mr. Ripley informs him that they are ready to commence construction. All members of the Council voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. A communication was received from City Engineer Bateman re- garding request from the Southern California Conference of S. D. A. for sev~=er facilities to accor,.mod.ate their sdhool buildings now under construction, same to be construeta3from Atlantic Ave. to Locuts Stre=-t on Elmwood Ave, reporting that an estirriate of the cost of same would be X2,2,00 or X2,500. There being no objection, th.e mat- ter was referred to the Sire:-t, and Se~njer Committee and the City Engineer to confer ~xrith the Southern California Conference of S. D. A. regardirg the financin~:• of the project. A communication was received from the L. B. Blvd. Associa- tion regarding request for an appronria.tion for their project to ;eautify L. B. Blvd. for Christmas. After due consideration of the matter, i t wa s duly moved by Councilman Prey er and. seconded by rdayor Bolter that X75.00 be contributed by the City of Lynwood for said project, and tYat Councilmen Lake and N--~~tion be appointed on a com- mittee to buy trees or vrhatever is necessary to further said project. The City Clerk presented the reassessment and diagram attached thereto filed in his office by the Street Superintendnet on December 7th, 1937, sh~~~wing the amount of the assessment against 17 each parcel of land in Acquisition and Improvement District No: 9 of the City of Lynwood. Thereupon RESOLUTION N0. 1034, entitled: "RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, FIXIIV'G A TIME AND PLACE FOR A HEARING ON THE REASSESS~EENT FILED FOR THE REFUNIING OF THE INDEBTEDNESS OF ACQUISITION AND IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT N0. 9 OF SAID CITY," fixing January 18th, 1938, at 8 P.M. as the time for said hear- ing, was read. It was moved by Councilman Nation and seconded by Cot.~ncilman Meyer that said Resolution No. 1034 be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, PJtey~, Nation and Boster. RESOLUTION N0. 1035, entitled; "RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLU- TION N0. 1033 OF THE CITY QQJNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD BY ADDING A I~dEW SECTION THERETO IN TI=E lUTATTER OF THE REFUNDING OF THE INDEBTEDNESS OF ACQUISITION AND IMPROVEii+iENT DISTRICT N0. 6 OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA," on the ten year payment plan of taxes, visas read. It w~-s moved by Councilman Meyer and seconded by Councilman Nation that said Resolution No. 1035 be adopted. . Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Meyer, Nation and Boster. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Snyder. Resolution No. '728 of the .City of South Gate, entitled: "A R_SOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF' THE CITY OF SOUTH GATE DETER1l~iIN- ING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST, CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY REQUIRE THE REFUNDING OF the indebtedness of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 1 of said City, and requesting the consent of the Board of Super- visors of the County of Los Angeles,. of the City Council of the City of .Lynwood and of the City Council of the City of HuntingtonPa.rk to paid refunding;' was received. Resolution No. 72'7 of the .City of South Gate, entitled: "Res,olution of the City Council of the City of South Gate, CaJ_if~rnia, declaring its intention to refund the indebtedness of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 1 of said City and fixing a time and place for hearing" which is the proposed resolution to be adopted in con- nection therewrith by said City Council, ~,=hich is now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, was received. Contract in connection with collection of dog license fees and to take up all stray dogs, or dogs not properly licensed, which may be running at age, was received from the State Commission for Protection of Children and Animals, a Corporation, offering to give such service for 80~Io of the fee collected. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Meyer and seeded by Councilman Lake that said Contract be accepted ant teat the I~~ayor be . au tr.^,rized to execute same for and in behalf of the City of Lynwood.
