M. Mayor Bolter in the chair. . Councilmen Lake, Meyer and Bolter answered the roll call. Councilman Nation and Snyder were absent. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer that theminutesof th8 previ~us.ad~aurned regular meeting of December 28th, 193? be approved as written. Allmembers of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor. declared-the motion duly carried. A check was received from one Harold E. Dwelle in the amount of 90.00 with letter attached agreeing to contribute said amount for the retirements of District Nos. 6 and 10 as affecting L©t 825, Tract 30?8, which will relieve said property of said in- debtedngss. It was moved by Councilman Meyer and seconded by Coun- cilman ake that said check be accepted and deposited with the City Treasurer. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Meyer and Boater. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Nation and Snyder. A communication was received from Hazel M. Jobe, Sec. Roose- velt Junior High Parent Teacher Association calling attention to the dangerous condition at the Peet Bog between Compton and Lynwood with respect to drowning, suggesting that definite action be taken to pro- te ct the safety of persons in the future. There being no objection, the matter was referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer to work with hirn, theMayor, to ascertain what can be done. ~' ~~ A communi cation was received from the First-Security Deposit Corporation calling attention to the flooded condition exist- ing at Santa Fe Ave. and Century Boulevard, whenever the slighest rainfall comes, stating that there property located at 2722 East 110th St. has suffered extensively by flood waters and their tenants have also been annoyed thereby with loss of personal effects, suggesting that relief be had in the matter. There being no objection, the mat- ter was referredto the City Engineer for his study and consideration. A communication was received from the Chief of Police '~r. Miller, rea:mmending that a 4 way flasher type stop signal bein- stalled.at the interestion of L. B. Blvd. and Imperial Highway; also suggesting .that Ordinance No. 2?9 be amended to include said stops; also stops at Tweedy Boulevard and Long Beach Boulevard. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the Chief of Police be instru cted to secure unoffical prices for the installation of said 4 way signals and that the Poli-ce Commis- sions be empowered to let the contract for such purchase.. Roll Call: .Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Meyer and Boster. Noes: None. Absnet: Councilmen Nation and Snyder. - A communication was received from, Chief Police. Miller recommending that. the Council adopt a suitable ordinance to make par- allel parking. of automo xd.les on each side of Long Beach Blvd. com- pulsory instead of the angle parking as. now exists thereby adding ad- ditional width to the highway, said parking to be from Mulford Ave. north and from the south side of~Fernwood Ave. south. Also that the lances that now exist at bot~~ends of the City limits be continued through Lynwood and on L. B. Blvd.,necessitating the painting of two additional strips on each side of the existing center strip; also recommending that an overhead light be installed over Platt St. on L. B. Blvd. in order to eliminate accidents at said loceation. There being no objection, said recommendations were tabled for. further study of the Council and until there is.a full council present. A petition was received.fron one Viola Ritter signed by Mrs. Iu~bel Rossi and 10 others consenting to the erection of a four family building and one two story duplex on ~dar and School Streets. There being no objection, the~Building nspector was auth- orized to issue building permit therefor when she has complied with existing ordinances. A communication was received from the City Court giv- ing-report on receipts for month of Decem ben; also application for employment by one Preston E. Donner; also health report for week end- ing Decem ben 25th, 1937. - ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: . Mr. H. J. aschall again made an appeal for the ere tion of a directional sign to be placed-on Imperial and Atlantic B1 vd. stating that the charge for same is prohibitive. Councilman Lake in- formed Mr. Paschall are gong to consider the amendment of the present ordinance, after which they can give more definite information. UNFINI5HED BUSINESS: A communication and report was received from thePlan- ning Commission of the City of Lynwood giving certain procedure of the Commission with respect to changing-the zone.in Tract No. 10503._ Thereupon an Ordinance,.entitled: "An Ordinance Am- ending the Zoning Map of the City of Lynwood, California, and drop- ping Lots 96, 97, 98, 115, 116, and 117. of Tract 10503 as recorded in Book 158 at Page 4 of Maps in the offi ce of the Co~inty Recorder of Los Angeles County, California, from-Zone RI and rez~'ning said lands in Zone C3, in the City of Lynwood, California", was introdu- ced and read the first time. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer that said Ordinance be accepted as read the first time and pass to the second reading. Roll- Call: ' Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Meyer and Boster. Noes: None. _ Absent: Councilmen Nation and Sider. RESOLUTION N0. 1041; entitled: " A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNGVOOD", protesting increase in rates of Pacific Electric Railway Co. and requesting continuance of hearing on application for same, was read. It was moved by Councilman Lake and Beeonded by Councilman Meyer that said Resolution No. 1041 be adapted. -Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Meyer and Buster. Noes: None. Absnet: Councilmen Nation and Snyder. ~~~ Mr. A. E. Skelton addressed addressed the Council on sev- eral trees that have died in the Lynwood Square Tract, being.No. 6554, claiming that same is on account of gas leaks by Southern California Gas Co., stating that there is insurance covering same, suggesting that the Gas Co. be appealed to. There being no ob~e~tion the matter was referred to the City Engineer with ins tractions to investigate and conta ct the Southern California Gas Co. .regarding same. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded .by Councilman Meyer that the meeting ad,~ourn to January 11th, 1937, at 1 P. M.
