The City Council of the City of Lynwood met iri ~Yi%re~;u~ar
session in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street,
on the above date, a.t 1 P.>!:~.
Mayor Nation in the chair.
Councilmen Meyer, Lake, Snyder a.nd Nation answered the roll
call.
Councilman Bolter was absent.
The Gity Clerk stated that the Reassessment roll a.nd Dia-
gram for refunding the indebtedness of Acquisition a.nd Improvement
District No. 24 of the City of Lynwood ha_s been filed in his office
by the Street Superintendent.
Thereupon RESOLUTION N0. 1133, entitled: "RESOLUTION OF
THE CITY OF LYTNWOOD, CALIFORNIP., FIXITdG A TIME AND PLACE FOR A HEAR-
ING ON THE REASSESSMENT FILED FOR THE REFUNDING OF THE IT~TDEBTEDNESS
OF ACQUISITION AND IPvMPROVEMENT DISTRICT N0. 24 OF SAID CITY,' was ''"`a
read. Thereupon it wa.s moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by
Councilman Snyder that said Resolution No. 1133 be adot~ted.
Roll Call:
Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Snyder, Meyer and Nation.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Bolter.
The following demands were presented:
Payroll Account ~ 65.00
Payroll Account 75.00
Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded
by Councilman Lake that the demands be allowed as re~._d and that
warrants be drawn on the City Treasurer for said amounts.
Roll Call:
Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Snyder, ItMeyer and Nation.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Bolter.
A communication was received from J. B. Norton, Secretary
of Property Ovmers' Committee, requesting the assistance of Robert
Moffitt at least in a legal advisory capacity, in removing the A. &
I. X115 bonds, as said district is partially in the City of Lynwood,
also stating that there is a_ committee meeting at his office on
Thursday, July 14th, at 9 A.I~1. and they would appreciate it very
much if Mr. Moffitt could meet v~Tith them a.t that time. Thereupon
it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer
that PJIr. Moffitt be instructed and authorized to render such service
as possible to help liquidate said distfict without neglecting other
districts that he may be vvorT,ing on.
Roll Call:
Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Snyder, PJleyer and Nation.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Bolter.
Chief of Police PJiiller addressed the Council on the matter
of his Department, suggesting that a temporary switch board employee
be employed to relieve Mrs. V'la.nama.ker who will relieve Lieutenant
Kerr while in tine U.5. Service and while on vacation. There being
no objection, the Chief of Police was authorized to employ a relief
switch board operator for a beriod of one month.
Chief PJliller also addressed the Council on the matter of ,,.,,~
holding a civil service examination for an eligible list; also for
a promotional examination for rank of Sergeant, suggesting that the
County of L. A. be contacted to determine what the charge would be for
their services in conducting an examination.
Thereupon it was moved by Councilman P~Reyer and seconded
by Councilman Snyder that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare
a notice to be published and posted for the holding of an examination
for the Police Department on a date to be fixed by Chief' Miller and
himself, and that the Chief of Police contact the County to determine
their service and charge for conductinga proposed examination. All
members of the Gouncil present voting aye, the MMayor declared the
motion duly carried.
Tt was moved by Councilman P.Meyer and seconded by Councilman
Snyder that the rleeting adjourn to July 19th, 1938, at 7:30 P. Pf. All
members of the Council voting aye, the Maya declared the motion duly
carr~.ed.
