HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolutions-2023-023RESOLUTION NO. 2023-023 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE STAFFING FOR ADEQUATE FIRE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE (SAFER) PROGRAM FOR RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION OF VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS ACTIVITY FOR THE CITY OF TIFFIN FIRE DEPARTMENT Whereas, The Tiffin Fire Department had applied for Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant under the FY 21 federal funding; and, Whereas, The City has been notified that it has been selected as a recipient of such grant; and, Whereas, The grant, in the amount of $604,470, is to be used for the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters activity. Now, therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa, to officially accept the SAFER grant. Be it further resolved that the Tiffin City Council authorizes Council Person Skylar Limkemann to accept the SAFER grant on behalf of the City of Tiffin and also to be the point of contact to coordinate the grant with FEMA. On the 4th day of April, 2023, at a regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa, Councilperson Limkemann introduced RESOLUTION NO. 2023-023, A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE STAFFING FOR ADEQUATE FIRE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE (SAFER) PROGRAM FOR RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION OF VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS ACTIVITY FOR THE CITY OF TIFFIN FIRE DEPARTMENT and made a motion for approval. Motion seconded by Councilperson Orris. Ayes: Schnedler, Limkemann, Havens, Olney, Orris. Nays: None. Absent: None. Whereupon five Council members were present and voted approval and Mayor Berner declared that RESOLUTION NO. 2023-023, A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE STAFFING FOR ADEQUATE FIRE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE (SAFER) PROGRAM FOR RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION OF VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS ACTIVITY FOR THE CITY OF TIFFIN FIRE DEPARTMENT to be adopted and signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
