HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 196 - Regulation of Traffic and Marking of Motor VehiclesI ORDINANCE NO. ,;4;, AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF TRAFFIC AND PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES VIITHIN THE VILLAGE OF McCALL; DELEGATING TO THE CHIEF OF POLICE THE PO ER TO PROMULGATE TRAFFIC RULES BY AND V°JITH THE APPROVAL OF THE VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ; AND FIXING THE PEN- ALTY FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CHAIRMAN AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILL- AGE OF McCALL, IDAHO: Section to The Chief of 'police of the Village of McCall, Idaho, shall have the power to promulgate traffic rules and reg- ulations upon all streets and alleys within the corporate limits of the Village of McCall, Idaho, as follows: (a) Designate by proper signs highways and streets or parts thereof upon which parking is prohibited or limited . (b) Prohibit left or "U" turns by vehicles at designated street or alley intersections . (c) Mark streets for guidance to vehicle parking . (d) Establish parking time limitations . (e) Provide safety zones for pedestrians . The Chief of Police of said Village shall have the further power to promulgate any other traffic rule that would be advan- tageous and desirable ; PROVIDED, no rules promulgated as herein stated by said Chief of Police shall become operative unless a copy of said rules shall have been first filed with the Village Clerk in writing and shall have been approved by the Village Board of Trustees at a regular or special session, and provided also that suitable signs or standards or guides stating substance of the rule are placed upon conspicuous places in the highway, street or part thereof affected . Such signs or standards or guides shall be of sufficient size to be clearly visible by occupants of motor vehicles . Section 2. Any person, firm or corporation who shall vio- late any provision of this ordinance and/or the rules and regu- lations made and prescribed by the Chief of Police and approved by the Village Board of Trustees shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine not to exceed One Hundred (S100.00) Dollars, or by imprisonment in the Village Jail not to exceed thirty (30) days , or by both such fine and imprisonment .
