HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1938-12-27 - CCSPECIAL MEETING DECEMBER 27TH, 1938. 3 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a Special session at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, be- ginning at 2:00 P. M., in the Council Chamber of said City Hall. Mayor Nation in the chair. Councilmen Boster, Meyer and Nation answered the roll call. Councilmen Snyder and Lake were absent. . The Mayor directed the City Clerk to read the call for this meeting, which said Clerk proceeded to do and which said call was inthe following words and figzres, to-wit: "December 23rd, 1938 Mr. Chas. G. Boster, Councilman 3294 Fernwood Avenue, Lyn~~rood, California . Mr. Ray Mey°r, Councilman 3:83 Louise Ave . , Lynwood, California. Mr. Cecil E. Snyder, . 3622 Agnes Street, Lynwood, California. Mr. Ralph W. Lake, Councilman, 12012 Mullis Road, Lynwood, California. . Mr. V A. Nation, Councilman and Pdayor, 3234 Mulford Ave„ Lynwood, California. Dear Councilmen: Yau are hereby notified to attend a Special meeting of the City Council of the City of Lynwood to be held on December, 27th, 1938, at 2 o'clock P. M., for the purpose of taking action in connection with acceptance of bid of Hall-Marquardt & Co. for bonds issued and offered for sale in Refunding the indebtedness of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 15; and to authorize the City Treasurer to assign said bonds to the said Hall-Marquadt & Co. Yours very truly, (Signed) V. A. NATION, MAYOR, CITY OF LYNWOOD." The City C~s°k thereupontestified that the foregoing Notice has been served uponthe Mayor and upon each member of the City Coun- cil at least three hours prior to the time set for the said meeting as stated in said notice, and that he had the written receipt of each member of the City Council so acknowledging receipt thereof. The Mayor thereupon declared that due and legal notice of this meeting had been properly given as provided by law and that the meeting was now in order to proceed with the transaction of the busi- ness for which it had been called and as stated in the Notice cal- ling the same. The PJiayor thereupon reported that the Committee appointed by him on December 20, 1938, pursuant to resolution of the City Council adopted on said date, has met to consider the three bids received by said City for the purchase of.bond.s of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 15, and has determined that the bid of Hall, Marquardt & Co. is the best bic~ received, and therefore the Committee has de- t~rmined that said bid should be accepted, and has accepted the same and so notified the purchaser, but that the bond attorneys have in- formed him that it is necessary that the action of the committee in accepting the bid be confirmed by. the City Council. Thereupon "RESOLUTION N0. 1163, entitl,ed~ "RESOLUTION PRO- VIDING FOR SALE OF CERTAIN REFUNDING BONDS OF ACQUISITION AND IM- PROVEMENT DISTRICT N0. I5 OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD OWNED BY SAID CITY", was read. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Boster and seconded by Councilman Meyer that said Resolution No. 1163 be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Boster, Meyer and Nation. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Lake and Snyder. It was moved by Councilman Boster and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the meeting ad,~ourn to January 3rd, 1938.
