HomeMy Public PortalAbout20030121 premeetingCOUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 21, 2003 CALL TO ORDER The Council Work Session of January 21, 2003, was convened at 5:45 p.m. by Mayor Tom Rackers. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Angle, Ferguson, Groner, Klindt, Olsen, Smith, Viessman, Vincent, and Vogel Absent: Weber DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS The following categories had items were brought up for discussion: Consent Agenda: Item (b) — Councilman Kenneth Ferguson stated that he would like to request that Item (b) pertaining to cable tv access contract with Lincoln University be held over to allow more time for consideration. Item (c) — Councilman Richard Groner asked questions about the damage to the equipment for which the City is being reimbursed through settlement claims. Bills Introduced: 2002 -131 — Councilman Larry Vincent stated that he plans to make a motion to amend the bill, possibly to Rule No. 18, when it is time to vote on the bill. 2002 -134 — Councilman Richard Groner asked questions about the bill 2002 -135 — Councilman Larry Vincent stated he intends to place this on the Informal Calendar tonight. Bills Pending: Bill 2002 -126 — City Administrator Rich Mays stated that a substitute bill has been placed at the Council desks which shows a minor amendment COUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 21, 2003 Bill 2002 -129 — City Administrator Rich Mays distributed corrected page 6 and Exhibit A to the contract and Transportation Director Marty Brose stated requested that Council make a motion to amend the bill to incorporate these corrected pages. Informal Calendar: 2002 -117: This bill will remain on the Informal Calendar. Councilman Cliff Olsen requested that this be placed on the Public Works & Planning Committee agenda for discussion at its January 23 meeting. 2002 -118: Councilman Clyde Angle stated that this will remain on the Informal Calendar. New Business: Councilman Cliff Olsen stated he has placed a letter at the Council desks pertaining to rate increases from Mediacom for cable television. He intends to bring up the issue at the meeting to bring it to citizens' attention. He stated he thought it would be a good idea to send a letter of complaint with all council members' signatures. No officials actions were taken as this was a work session only. The Work Session ended at 6:00 P.M.
