The City Couneil of the City of Lynwood met in a regular session at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date at 7:30 P.~~'. Mayor Decker in the chair. Councilman Williams, Davies, Snyder and Decker were present. Councilman Grayson was absent. The minutes of the previous adjourned regular meeting of Deeembae- 7th, 1931, were read and approved. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS; common ca on was received From the. Board of Trustees of Lyn- wood Schools, thanking the Couneil for cancelling penalties on Lots 11 to 20, and 56 to 65, inclusive, Book 2, Mod~eska Park, on 1930 taxes, stating that they are sending a warrant to County Auditor Payne to cover. There being no ob~eetion, the Mayor ordered the eornmunication filed. A communication was received from T~q.J.Schwank, Secretary of Lyn- wood Gun Club, requesting permission to use rifles and revolvers at the Lynwood Gun Club on December 20th and 27th for turkey shoot under the aus- pices of tie Manchester Post V.F.W. Discussion ensued relative to said matter, a d it seamed to be the consensus of opinion that the discharge of rifles and revolvers would be quite hazardous for passersby; therefore, it was moved by Councilman Davies that the request be denied, which was duly seconded by Councilman Williams. Roll Call; Aye$: Councilmen ~'Villia~~s, Davies, Snyder and Decker. Noes : None . Absent: Councilman Grayson. A communication ~°~as received from S. C. Smith requesting that the grade be raised on Long Beach Boulevard at Sanborn, so that the water wiIll be diverted down the alley in lien of running along Long Beach B -~ulevard ~- in front of the business district. There being no ob~eetion, the Mayor .referred the matter to Engineer Bateman for inv®stigation, and submit a written report as to the estimated cost, if it can be taken care of as suggested. A communication was received from U. S.G.Pettycrew requesting that a bridge be placed at Poplar and Peach Streets, so that pedestrians can get through during rainy weather. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Wi111a ms that Councilman Davies be auth- orized to purchase material for necessary bridges. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Williams, Davies, Snyder and Decker. Noes: None. Ab sett: Councilman Grayson. Reports of the Health Department for week ending November ~8 th, and week ending December 5th were received. There being no ob~eetion, the Mayor ordered same filed. REPORT OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES: A wr en repor was reee ved from Ci ty Treasurer Reed relative to whether taxes have been paid on that portion of Lot 28, Mod~eska Acres on which Mrs. J.E. Winn requested refund of weed assessment,. claimed erron- eously charged, reporting to the effect that taxes have not been paid to date. Therefore, the l~iayor ordered the communication filed, and her for- mer eommnnieation also; until taxes are paid and further request is made. NEW BUSINESS: ~mun~ca"~ion was received from the City Clerk recommending the adoption of an Ordinance attached. `thereupon an Ordinance of the City Couneil of the City of Lynwood, amending Ordinance No.161 of the City of Lynwood, which said amendment provides that one payroll demand only need be prepared for payrolls for General Fuxid; also that one payroll shall be prepared by the City Clerk for all departments, officials or employees not mentioned in Section 1 of Ordinance No.161, was read for t2ae first time. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman DavieB that same be accepted as read the first time, and passed to the second reading. poll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Williams, Davies, Snyder and Decker. An Ordinance prohibiting the sale of Wine Tonics in the City of Lynwood, and repeaSing all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith, and providing penalties for the violation thereof, was present- ed and read by City Attorney Hess, pursuant to instructions at the. prev- ious me sting, stating that it was an exact copy of H.P. Wine tonic Ord- insnee. There upon, it was moved by Councilman Williams and seconded by 1 5 . Harry Kaufman 5.00 It was moved by Councilman Davies Lynwood Electric Co. 1.77 and seconded by Councilman Williat~s Addressing Machine Co. 4.99 that the demands be allowed and Mount Forwarding Co 9.00 warrants be drawn on the City Petty Cash Water Dept. 10.88 Treasurer for said various amounts. Councilman Snyder addressed the Council to the effect that the Fire Engine is in need of repairs and that the Seagrave Corporation will borrow one of their engines to replace the City Truck during its absence, but will require a resolution adopted relieving them for any injury to any person arising from the use of same. Thereupon, RESOLUTION N0. 793, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCII. OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD REQUESTING THE LOAN OF A FIRE ENGII9L", was read. It was moved by~Couneilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Williams that said RESOLUTION N0.793 be adopted upon approval by City Attorney for insurance protecting the City of Lynwood. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Williams, Davies, Snyder and Deoker. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman C#rayson. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Williams that the Building Inspector be instructed to enforce the Building Ordinance with respect to the lawful construction of an ice bog by Mr. Kraintz on Long Beach Boulevard, in con~unetion with his business known €as the Lynwood Cider Mill.
