FROM: Gail L. Black, Interim Dir. of Human Resources y1J
, SUBJECT: CLASSIFICATION STATEMENT/PARKING CONTROL OFFICER
PURPOSE
To review a proposed classification statement for'the position of
Parking Control Officer. -
BACKGROUND
* During its June 26, 1991 workshop, Council directed staff to
investigate the possibility of instituting an in-house
parking enforcement program and if such a program could be
implemented at a savings over the Sheriff's Department
program presently contracted for.
* After an in-depth study, it was determined that the potential
savings in the first year were substantial to warrant the in-
house program.
* At the August 20, 1991 City Council meeting, Council approved a
resolution replacing the present parking control services
throuqh Los Angeles County with an in-house parking control
- program.
RECOMMENDATION
That the Personnel Board review the proposed classification
statement for Parkinq Control Officer and recommend the inclusion
of said description within the Employee Classification and
Statement Plan.
