ADJOURNMENT ' � � COMMUNITY ACCESS ADVISORY BOARD iNinutes of the Meeting of October 14, 1991 The re�i�lar meeting of the Community Access Advisory Board of the City of Lynwood was held October 14, 1991 at the City Hall Council Chambers. (The agenda saas duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act.) Jim Given called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. Members in attendance were Bill CUnningham, Ann Fields, and Ada MeZeal. Mary �4right and Olympia Dudenhoeffer were absent. Staff pr.•esent were Jim Given, Don Morris, Diana Escalante, and Pat Alvarez. The minui:es of the September 9, 1991 meeting were held until the next meeting for approval. There was one correction on the first page, under members' attendance: _Ada McZeal had an escuse3 '� absence on September 9, 1991 due to a death in her famil,y. , Board members questioned difference between excused and unexcused I absence. Jim Given mentioned that according to the latest � ordinace relat.i.ng to absences from commission, board, and committ,ee meetings, there are no esceptions. Staff will look into inforrnat:ion on absences an3 discuss at the nest regular meeting. A plaque of appreciation was presented to Mr. Rodney Washington, who is a local producer. His cable show is entitled °Fiction Theater". (Mr. Washington was noY. present at the July meeting, I when several local producers were awarded with a plaque of , appreciation for their efforts in producing local community- I oriented shows.) � I SCHEDULED MATTERS ' A. TOPICS FOR UPCOMING LYNWOOD SHOWCASES I Z1: was announced that the showcase viewing schedule will i resume on October 30, 1991, at which time shocacases number 25, 26 and 27 will be previ.ecaed. Suggestions for Showcase #25 - Communit<< Development Home Espu i - (Adult) All Star Game - Youth Siammit � - Job Fair ' I 1 � � ^ , � � Suggestions for Showcase #26 - Co-Ed All Star Softball Game - Back to school segment ' • - Superintendent Hahn's reception at St. Francis - I,i.brary segment Suggestions for Showcase #2i - Community Center demolition - "Are You Ok" Program - Gi.rls' Youth Softball Banquet ' - Firemen's Appreciation Dinner Don Morris informed board members that Showcase Host Workshops are held twice a month to practice production methods, exchange ideas, etc. The ne�;t workshop will be held on October 28, 1991. Bill Cunningham suggested doing a ride-along segment with a Code Enforcement Officer, to show residents some of the common violations of the City Code. Jim Given informed board members that Ratie Miller,is doing a report on the funetions of the Fire Dep�rtment and Lorna Hawkins is preparing another report on the duties of the Code Enforcement Department. Also, the City mailed ' a pamphlet in both English a,nd. Spanish to all Lynwood residents, whieh explains the most common City Code violations. Additional suggestions for the L.ynwood Showcase - Travelodge Grand Opening - Teen Center Anniversary Celebration - R.ed Ribbon "Picnic in the Park" - Halloween Events (Costume Contest/Carnival, etc.) - First aid �.�lips (it was suggested to have Fire Department personnel demonstrate different first aid techniques) - Do commercials announcing when and where CPR classes will ' be offered • ' - Convalescent Homes: demonstrate what activities they have for the seniors, such as crafts, etc. i .
