HomeMy Public PortalAbout20011022 specialSPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 22, 2001 1 CALL TO ORDER A Special Council Meeting of October 22, 2001, was convened at 5:30 P.M. by President Pro Tempore Charles Jackson in the absence of Mayor Tom Rackers. ROLL CAL The following Council Members were present for the roll call: Present: Angle, Blaney, Jackson, Landwehr, Nelson, Olsen, Viessman, and Vogel Absent: Vincent and Weber* A quorum was declared present. BILLS PENDING *Councilman Bob Weber arrived at 6:40 PM during reading of the title of Bill 2001 -116. Bill 2001 -116, sponsored by Councilman Olsen, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, BY REPEALING CHAPTER 12, ELECTIONS, SECTION 36, WARDS, AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 36 IN LIEU THEREOF. Bill 2001 -116 was read third time by title and placed on final passage. A lengthy discussion was held on the issue of redistricting, and the various options of boundary changes which staff has drawn up for Council's consideration. Councilman Cliff Olsen reminded Council he had brought up the issue of redistricting at the May 7, 2001 Council Meeting. Other Council Members felt like they had not had the various options long enough yet to make a decision at this time. At the conclusion of discussion, Bill 2001 -116 was defeated by the following roll -call vote: Aye: Angle, Landwehr, Olsen, and Viessman Nay: Blaney, Jackson, Nelson, Vogel, and Weber Bill 2001 -121, sponsored by Councilman Vincent, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH CCMI FOR CLAIMS SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 22, 2001 2 MANAGEMENT SERVICES. Bill 2001 -121 was read third time by title, placed on final passage and passed by the following vote as Ordinance 13294: Aye: Angle, Blaney, Jackson, Landwehr, Nelson, Olsen, Viessman, Vogel and Weber Nay: None ADJOURN MENT There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, Councilman Edith Vogel made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Carol Blaney, and approved unanimously at 6:15 P.M.
