The City of Lynwood Youth Gommission met in a. regu�ar session at
. Lynwood Teen Genter located at 11v09 Birch Street, on the above
date at 6:05 p.m. �
Vice Chairperson GornecLa Banks was in the chair.
Vice Ghairperson Banks, Commissioners Airada, Araujo, Gontreras,
Perez, and Trigo answered rolt call.
Chairperson Boykin, Agaalii, C. Green, S. Green, Hardin, Wells and
Za.vala did not a.nswer roll call.
Recreation Superintendent certiYied the posting oT the. agenda at
City Halt and at the "feen Genter.
Because a quor�m was not reached, the minutes ot April i, 1992
could not be approved a.t this point. ,

Program Reports
Jim Given reported the AIt City �Crack Meet was heid on Saturday,
April 11, 199L. It was a very successT�l event with over 1100 youth
pacticipattng.
T'he Department will sponsor an Easter Egg fiunt on Saturday, April
18, 1992. The Lynwood Sports Association wil! begln its baseball ,
season by having its Opening Day Ceremonies on 3aturday, April 25, ��
1992. '

Finally, the department wiil be celebrating Ginco De Ma.yo with t.he +
annuai Ginco De f1aye Gelebration and Ca.rnival beginning May 7 ar�d '
concluding May 10, 7.992. �

Commissioners S. Green and C. Green arrived at 6:15 p.m. ,
Supervisor Leo 12odriguez reported that the Teen Center recently I
purchased an audto system. �

The Youth Council met on Monday, April 13, 16y2. They di.scussed �
. the possibility ot continuing an monthly clean up day and having a I

A quorum was reached at this point. �
It was moved by Commissioner Perez and seconded by Gommissioner
,Contreras to approve the minutes oY April 1, 1992. Motion carried.

Perez to open nominations. Moti�on carried.

Jesus Trigo nominated Commissioner Banks as Ghairperson.
Commiss�ioner S. Green seconded the nou�ination.
No other nominations were received.
Commissioner Airada motioned to ciose nominations.
Commissioner Yerez seconded. Motion ca.rried.
With a unanimous vote, Gornecia Banks became the Chairperson
of the Youth Commission.
B. Vice Ghairperson
It was moved by Commissioner C. Green and secondea by
Commissioner 7'rigo to open nominations tor Vice Chairperson.
Motion carried.
Commissioner Perez nominated Jesus �Prigo as Vice Chairperson. �

� The Youth Summit tormat ha.s cha.nged rrom last year. �
Supervisor Leo Rodriguez reporCed that tFie Youth Commission, in �
coope�ation with the Lynwood School District will sponsor a.n Youth j
Forum on Ma.y Z8, 199L. 'Che purpose oY the torum will be to nring '
youth a.t risk and their pa.rents together to discuss thetr problems �
and various solutions. 'Che Youth Commissioner have been req�ested ��

to assist in the program. A planning meeti�g will be he�d on April
30, 193� at 3:00 at the Lynwood School District Uffice �
Fundraisin� Activities �
�Jim Given requested that the commission decide on a. fundra.iser
designed to provide the funds fr�r ±.he ann��al scholarships.
Commissio�ier Contreras suggested providing a Talent Show/Dance at
Bateman Hail. �
A sub-committee of Commissioners Contreras, Araujo, C. Green,
Trigo, and Perez, aYong with past ct�airperson Errick R. Lee was set
� up to explore tl��e issue and bri�g back a report at the next
meeting. They will meet on April zG at 6:00 p.m. at the '(een
Center.
