The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Julio Mend

The Invocation was presented by Commissioner Martini and the
Pledge of Allegiarice was presented by Co�issioner Markovic.

Chairperson Mendoza asked for a motion to approve the minutes of -:

A motion was given by Commissioner Markovic, with a second by ` �

CORRESPONDENCE
Ralph Davis introduced Lorna Gregory, substitute for Beverly
Anderson, as clerk for the meeting. �

BUDGET REPORT �

� Mr. Harold Mattoon reported that the Recreation 6 Parka �
, Department has proposed the same budget as the existing budget
for 91-92. There have been no personnel cuts made to date. �

TRANSIT/COMMUNITY CENTER REPORT 1

Mr Ralph Davi's�atated that he will prepare an opening date for

the new�Transit/Co�unity Center. It was tentatively to be July
12, ^1'Q92 p,3�The`�delay is due to Chevron having to re-pipe Bullis
Raad � 3 ;He''sEa[ed' that it is coming along nicely, and hopefully by
next meeEing;:'there will be a tour of the facility.
WALL OF FAME j
Mr. Ralph Davis announced the names of the Board Members of the
Wall of Fame. They are: Lee Duncan, Jease Arnold, Harry Prinz,
Dr. Betty Jackson, Donald Chae, Michael Hite, and Leighton Aall.
A letter of congratulations of appointment to the board will be +
sent to all members and to invite them [o the first meeting of
July 1, 1992, 12:00 noon, at Bateman Hall.

UNITY FESTIVAL REPORT
Mr. Ralph Davis reported that July 11, 1992, will be the City of
Lynwood'�s Birthday and Unity Festival. All ethnic groups will be
incorporated in this celebration. He s[ated that the melting pot
really represents the City of Lynwood. There will be local
entertainment as well as well-known artists such as Phil
Upchurch. There will be vendor booths. The co�issioners will
have an Information Booth.
ACTIVITIES REPORT
Mr. Mattoon presented copies of May, 1992 activities. No comment
was made by commission.
CURRENT PROGRAMS by Ralph Davis
SUMMER DAY CA1�
Su�er Day Camp Program held at Ham Park, Monday - Friday, from
5:00 AM to 4:00 PM which includes field trips, arts b crafts,��
etc. Mr. Davis stated that there are currently (100) campers in�-
attendance. : ,�

It will conclude with an overnigh[ camp-out. It is an excellent $
program for the community. -
Mr. Davis stated that the children also get T-shirts.
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM !
Mr: Davis stated that the Afterschool Program Banquet was held
June 12th at Bateman Hall. There were (400) youngsters in
attendance. All achools were represented. (30) teachera who �
volunteered were honored. It was a fun event and an excellent
program.

SEA WORLD
Mr. Davis reported that approximately (50) people attended the
trip.to 20.

Mr Davis* Summer awim lesaons began Monday, June
15th �?RegulaiTpubli�ctswim began on the same date. The program
is doing quite well." Mr. Davis also noted that the Sheriff's are
working in the evening to help cut down on the gang challenges. ;
SUMMER HOURS
Su�er hours are until 8 PM for Ham Park and the Teen Center.

1 AMATEUR NIGHT
Mr. Davia reported that Amateur Night was held at Bateman Hall on
June 12. It showcased local talent such as rappers and aingers.
He stated that the average audience size is.about (75).
SUMMER BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Mr. Davis reported that tryouts for this program begins June
29th.
FIREWORKS STAND BY L.S.A.
(12 - 15) volunteers will be selling fireworks to raise funds for
Lynwood Sports Association.
4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION
Mr. Davis reported that the All Star Games will begin at 12 noon.
The fireworks display will be held at Dymally Park at dusk. � .

Mr. Davis reported that the Christmas Parade Co�ittee Meeting is,, �''"

held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at City Hall at 10:00 AM. ',��„ ` I
The main focus of this committee is to enhance the Christmas
Parade in club floats, street decoration, judging selection.
