The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned regular meeting in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 1:45 P. M. Mayor Lake in the chair. . Councilmen Christensen, Nation and Lake answered the roll call. Councilmen Snyder and Meyer were absent. It was moved by Councilman Christensen and seconded by Coun- cilman Nation, that the minutes of the previous regular meeting of July 5th, 1939 be approved as written. All members of the Council pre- sent noting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The hour of 1145 P. M. having arrived, said time being the hour fixed for receiving protests in connection with refunding the indebtedness of Acquisition and .Improvement District No. 7 of the City of Lynwood under the Refunding Assessment Bond Act of 1935. The City Clerk stated that Affidavits of Posting and of Mailing and Publication were on file in his office, and that same had been done according to law. The City Clerk stated that no protests or objections had been filed in his office. Thereupon the Mayor inquired of the audientse whether or not there was anyone present who wished to submit a protest or objection, either in writing or orally, in connection with said matter. ThPrP ^ras n~ Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Christensen and sec- onded by Councilman Nation that said hearing be continued to July 18th, 1939, at 8 P. M. All members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. A communication was received in the form of petition signed by Mrs. M. J. Bonnigaon and five others requesting that the zoning be changed for building purposes so that business will be permitted on Century Boulevard, between California and San Carlos Avenue. Messrs. Gresham and Bonnigaton also addressed the Council on the matter. May- or Lake informed the applicants on behalf of the City Council that they should submit an application to the City Planning Commission with request of change of zone, as they are the proper body tq initiate the proceedings. An invitation was received from the County League of Calif- ornia Municipalities announcing their next meeting at Huntington Park when the principal speaker will be Hon. Fletcher Bowron; also Richard Graves and Louis H. Burks, said meeting to be held on July 20th, 1939, at 6:30, in the Patriotic Hall, in Municipal Park, five blocks east of Pacific Boulevard on Miles Avenue. The City Clerk was instructed to secure reservations at an early date. A communication was received from Special Counsel Roscoe R. Hess who is handling franchise matters, recommending a motion be adopted in connection with other Cities joining in the suit=heretofore filed. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Nation and seconded by Councilman Christensen that the Special Counsel oP the City of Lynwood in actions filed against the Southern California Edison Company and Southern California Gas Company be authorized to request the partici- pation in said actions of all cities and Counties interested therein. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Christensen, Nation and Lake. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Snyder and Meyer. It was moved by Councilman Christensen and seconded by Coun- cilman Nation that the Police Department be authorized to purchase a Motorcycle for use in their department. City Treasurer Reed announced that he had invited the Imper- ial Highway Improvement Association to meet in Lynwood on July 29th, 1939, urging the Council to attend said meeting. response. 13 It was moved by Councilman Christensen and seconded by Coun- cilman Nation that the meeting adjourn to July 18th, 1939, at ?:30 P.
