HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1939-07-20 - CC18A ~~ ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING JULY 20TH 1939 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an ad- ~ourned regular session, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 1:45 P. M. Mayor Lake in the Chair. Councilmen Christensen, Meyer, Snyder and Lake answered the roll call. Councilman Nation was absent. The hour of I:45 P. M. having arrived, said time being the hour fixed for resuming the hearing in connection with refunding the indebtedness of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 7 under the Refunding Assessment Bond Act of 1935, as amended, as continue from the regular meeting held on July 18th, 1939. The Mayor inquired of the City Clerk whether or not any written objections or protest had been filed. The City Clerk stated that none had been filed. Thereupon the Mayor inquired whether there was anyone present who wished to protest, either in writing or orally. There was no response. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Christensen and second- ed by Councilman Meyer that the hearing be continued to July 20, 1939 at 10:00 P. M. All members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. ~`~--~ A demand was receeved from Enoch Chevrolet Co. in the prin- cipal amount of X330.00 covering payment on a new 1939 Master Sports Sedan for use in the Police Department, the principal amount of which is X979.63 including tax. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Sny- der and seconded by Councilman Christensen that the demand be allowed and warrant be drawn on the City Treasurer for said amount of ~330.O0. Roll Call : Ayes: Councilmen Christensen, Meyer, Snyyer and Lake. Noes : None. Absent: Councilman Nation. A communication was received from the Gospel Army making application for permit to open a sb~re in Lynwood to be operated as a non-profitable business to help the underprivileged employee, needy people and cloths them. After due consideration of the matter, same waa referred to City Attorney Ruby for checking as to what the Or- dinaries provides. An Ordinance, entitled: "An ordinance of the City of Lynwood, California, amending Section ?~ of Ordinance 285 created by Ordinance No. 306 of said City of Lynwood, by the addition thereto and the incorporation therein of Subsection "D", prohibiting the eonstruc- tion of any house or dwelling, or house and garage combined, or any court, apartment, school, church, auditorium, clubhouse, or lodge or fraternal organization building within 3 feet from either side line of its premises", was introduced and read for the first time by caption. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the further reading oP said ord~na,nce be waived. All members oP the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Christensen that said Ordinance be accepted as read the first time and pass to the second reading. City Attorney Ruby submitted a written report on the matter of dog ordinances in effect, stating that there were ordinances that prohibited the dogs running at large unless such dogs have been im- munized against disease of rabies or have been treated with anti-rabies virus*and.bear the official immunization tai', or unless the dog.be muzzled. Councilman Snyder stated that the amateur motion picture Club wishes to use the Council chambers of the City Hall on the Fourth Tuesday of each Month. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Meyer that permission be granted as requ~s- All members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the 1sB ~, ~~~ motion duly carried, and it was so ordered. It was moved by Councilman Christensen and seconded by Coun- cilman Snyder that the meeting adjourn to July20, 1939, at 10 P. M.
