Mr. Harding discussed the location of a compressor located in the setback area on this property and also the design and location of a stairway as a fire escape constructed on the east side of the house. There was a general discussion of these two points. It was then moved and seconded that the Town postpone any action on this matter until a future date. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Nilsen requested the Town look into the matter of a commercial nursery being operated in a residential area, located in the rear of H. F. Johnson's house. Mr. Hart and Mr. LaPorte said they would take the matter up with Mr. Johnson immediately. The minutes of the meeting held February 15, 1961, were read, approved and adopted. When drainage plans were first talked about for the Pope polo fields area and location of catch basins laid out, the drainage problem on Oleander Way, north of Banyan Road was also considered. Talks between the engineer and Mayor Lindsey, with Mrs. Dick&nson present, indicated that that bad spot would be taken care of in the drainage plans at the time that Oleander Way was re -paved and improved, which it was planned to do shortly. However, it seems that opposition to repaving, and improving Oleander Way was generated on the part of property owners south of Banyan Road on the theory that such improvement to the road might induce its greater use, to the detriment of their comfort and safety. Apparently due to this, nothing has been done about either the paving or the drainage problem. The result still is that after every heavy rain, water from AIA runs down Banyan Road to join the un -drained ground water in front of the Dick neon house,{- O.SlJ9/ creating an extensive pond which sometimes lasts days or even weeks, making it miserable for traffic, and unsightly. The undersigned concerned property owners do not believe a solution to the drainage of this spot need await re-pavinF of the road as first intended. A catch -basin on one or two corners at the intersection of Oleander Way and Banyan Road connecting to the existing dr&.ins on Gulf Stream Road should take care of the situation, therefore we hereby petition the Council to take steps in this direction as soon ae possible. ,r L L I - a '-' January 14, 1961 February , 1961 TO: Mayor Dodson and Town Council Town of Gulf Stream It is with full knowledge that the undersigned approve of certain construction work on the premises of Mr, and Mrs. R.
