In the absence of ~~Tayor Lake, the meeting Vaas called to order by the City Clerk, and upon roll call it showed the follo~r?in~~ present: Councilmen Christensen, r:?ever and Snyder. Absent: Councilmen Nation and Lake. The City Clerk announced that in the absence of the ~aiayor a motion Mould be in order for the appointment of a.r~~'ayor ~_ro tem and tem- porary chairman. Thereupon it ~nias moved by Councilman C'r.ristensen and seconded by Council :ran Weyer that Councilma?~ Snyder be appointed temporary chair- man. and Ytayor pro tern. WRITTEN CONI~~~~UNICATIONS: A communication v-as received from the ~~Iunicipal Finance :~`ff'ice7s' Association recommending that some officer be appointed to report the earnings of all. employees for thf calendar year 1~3p to the Commissioner of Internal Revenue before February 15, 194~~. Thereupon it was ,roved by Councilman Christensen and seconded by Counci,lma.n ~`~ieyer that City Treas- urere P;~offitt be appointed and deli r°nated as tr:e Officer to report the earnin~;s of Gity employees of the City of Lyn~lood to the Commissioner of Internal Revenue as required by lave. All members of the Council present voting; aye, tree T,~ayor declared the motion duly carried. A communicaticr was received fro.Y! C. T. Gilliam & Associates offerin~~ to make a survey of tree expenses involved in Street Lighting and ?Rater pumping, the cost not be :^ore than one-half of the actual savings and benefits derived by t'r~e City. There being no objection, sai.~' matter ~R7as referred to the City Engir_eer for study and report. A communication alas received from Claude Clark, President of the Eedera`ed Church Brotherhood, submitting a resolution adopted by the Board of Directors of said body ~1'r}ich recorZrnends that the Council rigid- ly enforce Ordinance i`1o. 299, a.nd a.ry other anti-gambling Ordinance now n effect. There l~in~ no ob.tection, said matter ti'~a.S referred to the City Attorney Ruby to c'r_eck into the contents of the Ordinance and re~aort his findings at t};.e next meeting of the Council. A communication was received frog the Board of Fire Underwriters of the Pacific enclosing a. copy of report on the Acceptance Test run re- cently made on Seagrave P~ariper No. A3C3C which the City recently v_urchased, showing that the test v~ras entirely satisfactory and is acceptable to this office a.s a sta.nda_~~d pug?per of ?5C gallon= per minute rating. There being no objection, said ccmmunication and report ~rere ordered filed. The health report ~~~as rFCeived and ordered filed. A communication was received from t'~~e Pacific Electric Railway Company to the effect that they have not completed their investigation in conr~ectior, with recuest far ::ore lights for the outside waiting room at their station, hov~Tever, that they will, after which they wi]_1 communicate further so advising. NE'N BUSINESS: The City Glerk stated that two fire insurance policies expire on January 30, 1940, covering buil^ing~s a.nd contents, being for coverage of ~10,00~0.00 each and Al Youngs being the a;=ent who wrote the insurance last time. Thereupon it z~^a.s moved by Councilman ^'eyer and_ seconded by Councilman Christensen t'r1a_t Al Young be requested to rewrite said, fire insurance for a terrri of three years ar.d divide commissions equally betU•.~een the following agents: T~+Iessrs.
