The City Council of the City of Lynv~~ood met in an adjourned reg-
ular session in the Council Chrymber of the City Hall, 11531 P1-~z,a Street,
on above date, at 7:30 F.P,,I.
In the absence of P,~L<zyor La';e, the rrreotin~ was called to order
by the City Cler°k and. the roll cell shot~~ed the follotr:~l.nM pre:,ent:
Councilmen Nation, Christensen ^~nd_ I,~2F~yer.
Absent: Councilmen Lake and Snyder.
The City Clerk announced that a motion would be in order for
the pur;~ose of a~~pointinr?; a te~porary Chairman :`and. D~T:~,yor pro' tem.

motion carried.
An Ordinance, entitled: !'An Ordinance of the City of Lynwood,
California, providin~~ for certain bonds of officers a.nd emplo~;rees of said
City, and. repealing Ord_inance,- No. 17~ anc~ 173 of said City!', was intro-
duced and read for the first time. It was moved by Councilman ,Meyer and
seconded by Councilman Christensen that said Ordinance be accented <~s
read. the first tine and pass to the second reading.

Absent: Councilmen Lake ar.d. Snyder.

v~~as to canvass the returns of the election held in the City of Lynr~~ood
on April. 9, 1940.
Thereupon it ~~~,~~ moved by Councilman Cl:~ristensen <:nd seconded
by Councilman It~ie~Ter that the Council. r;roceed ~nrith the c~nva_ss of the re-
turns of said Gener<:,.1 i~,~;unicipal Election held on said date. A1.1 raernbers
of t};e Council presE~rt ~.rotin~; aye, the 1,~i~~,yor decl_~red th:e motion duly
car. ~i ed.
V~'hereupon P:-ta.;,ror pro tem Nation appointed. Councilman Cr ~:'istensen
and Pvleyer to act as tellers.
Thereupon the Council proceeded to canvass the .returns of said
election.
The City Clerk announced that he had received sever. absentee
ballots.
It was moved b~.r Councilman t4~Ieyer and. seconded by Councilman
C:!~ristensen that the =absentee ballots be opened an~a canvassed. by the City
Council. All. members of the Council present voting aye, the iti'ia,yor pro
tem declared the moti`zt duly carried and it was so ordered.
Thereupon the City Clerk opened. the envelopes and the ballots
v.~ere placed. in a boy; a.nd. thoroughly shaken, after which the tellers pro-
ceeded to canvass the votes as cast, after w'r~:ich they w?ere added. to the
votes cast in each precinct for each c~andiaates, anc? fo.r' and against- each
measure voted upon.
Thereupon the tellers reported that the number of votes cast
in the various Consolidate,. Voti ng Frecincts for each Candidate and. for
and against ea-ch measure voted upon to be as follo~A~s:

The City Clerk announced. that Harry S. ?Wilkinson hack filed.
with hi.~~~ a bond. in the penal vum of ~~>30,000.00 written by C,eneral Casualty
Comr~any of America, as required by la_w.
PJIr. Zeiser also submitted a bond. and_ "filed v~ith tre C1_F,rk in the
Burn of ~~~15, 000.00 covering the City Treasurer.
h~Zayor pro tem Nation stated that the bond of lUir. 4':'ilkinspn will
be submitted to the CityAttorney for checking and. if found- in order will
be apx>roved by Cour;cil at a l~ter° date.
Councilman,Tfeyer requested. the City Clerk to v~rrite a. letter of
condolence to the fa~r.i1_y of John t",'. ~~Jilliarns, deceased, on behalf of the
City Council; also to purchase flo~raers for the funeral.
It was moved by Councilman T~f~e~~er and seconded by Councilman
Christensen that the meetir.e adjourn to April 16th, 1940, at '7:3Q P.l~~t. All
members of the Council x~resent vc;tin=~: aye, the City Cler°k declared the
motion duly carried and. it eras so ordered.
