Home My Public Portal About20-9764 Change for RJ Spencer ConstructionSponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 20-9764 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE A CHANGE ORDER FOR RJ SPENCER CONSTRUCTION, LLC., TO INCLUDE WINDOW REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 2105 ALI BABA AVENUE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTEEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($13,500.00); PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, On October 9th, 2019, the City of Opa-Locka ("City") Commission accepted the proposal of RJ Spencer Construction, LLC. ("Contractor") for roofing services / interior and exterior remodeling pursuant to RFP No. 19-0314100 (relating to property located at 2105 Ali Baba Avenue) and authorized the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Contractor for the provision of said services; and WHEREAS, the property located at 2105 Ali Baba Avenue (the "Property") is currently being serviced and remodeled by Contractor; and WHEREAS, window removal and replacement are now necessary at the Property due to water leaks; and WHEREAS, Contractor has requested a Change Order, attached hereto in Exhibit "A", to include the additional services for necessary window removal and replacement at the Property; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka desires to approve Contractor's Change Order to include additional services for window removal and replacement at 2105 Ali Baba Avenue in an amount not to exceed Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($13,500.00), as set forth in Exhibit "A". WHEREAS, the City Commission finds it is the best interest of the City to approve the change order. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. Adoption of Representations. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Resolution No. 20-9764 Section 2. Approval of Change Order. The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka hereby authorizes the City Manager to approve a Change Order for RJ Spencer Construction, LLC., to include additional services for window removal and replacement at 2105 Ali Baba Avenue in an amount not to exceed Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($13,500.00), as set forth in Exhibit "A". Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption hereof and approval by the Governor of the State of Florida or Governor's designee. Approval of Change Orders Staff Summary: Staff is requesting approval of two change orders that will have a total financial impact of $12,000. COR #3.1: Window Removal and Replacement due to water leaks. This change order includes $8,500 for materials. This will allow for the long lead time in the procurement of this material. There is currently a budget amendment being submitted. When approved, staff will request that the remainder of this change order, $3,500 for labor and $1,500 for equipment, be approved. As indicated in the Financial Impact section, $3,000 remains to fund the remainder of this change order. As discussed in the budget amendment, the additional $2,000 required to complete the funding of this change order will be funded with savings from the General Fund. COR #4: Electrical Upgrade from 2 X 4 lighting to Hi -hats. AC Romex wire. The cost of this request is $3,500.
