HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1941-12-24 - CC`.~ '., ~{ ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 24 1941 The City Council of the C9.ty of Lynwood met in an adjourned re- gular session, in the Council Chamber of the City Ha11, 11331 Plaza Street, an above date, at 8 A. M. Mayor Meyer in the chair. Councilmen Lake, McMeekin and Meyer answered the roll call. ,councilmen Christensen and Zimmerman were absent. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Mc- Meekin that the minutes of the previous regular muting of December 16, 1941 and of the adjourned regular meeting of December 18, 1941 be:approved as written. All members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. A communication was received from Mrs. Gladys Clouse requesting permission on behalf of the Girl Scouts for use of the Circle parks to hold lookouts and build fires within the center unused portion far their out- door activities. There being no objection, the Mayor authorized such use as requested. .At this time Councilman Zimmerman arrived and took his seat at the Council table. Chief of Police Miller addressed the Council to the effect that it will b e 90 days or more before the Defense Council will agree on a uni- form armband for auxiliary police, therefore requesting permission to purchase 300 arm bands, at 18.00 per 100. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Coun- cilman McMeekin that the Chief of Police be authorized to purchase 300 arm bands for use in defense work. Ro11 Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Zimmerman, McMeekin and Meyer. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Christensen. ORDINANCE NO. 359, entitled; "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYN- ~'VOOD, CALIFORNIA, RELATING TO EMERGENCY DEFENSE AND AIR RAID PRECAUTIONS," was read by caption for the second time. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman McMeekin that the further reading of said Or- dinance be waived. A11 members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. Thereupon it was moved b y Councilman Lake and seconded by Coun- cilman McMeekin that said ordinance be adopted as read the second time, finally pass and b e published as required by law. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, Zimmerman, McMeekin and Meyer. Noes: None. Absent; Councilmen Christensen. By common consent of the City Council it was agreed that the City Hall be closed at noon on December 24, 1941. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Mc- Meekin that the meeting adjourn to January 6, 1942, at 7:30 P.14.
