HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1942-03-30 - CC3`~9 ADJOUR~'ED REGULAR P~EETING MARCH ~J , 1942 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned re- gular session, in the Council Chamber of the City Ha11, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 12:30 P. T4~. Mayor Meyer in the chair. Councilmen Zimmerman, McMeekin,Lake and 1t2eyer answered the roll call. Councilman Christensen was absent.- It was moved by Councilman McMeekin ~d seconded by Councilman Zimmerman that the minutes of the previous regular meeting of March 17, 1942 and of the ad,~ourned regular meeting held on March 23, 1942 be ap- proved as written. All members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. A communication was received from Western Gear Works of Lynwood making application for franchise, as prepared by the Southern Pacific Company, for a spur track to run across Alameda Street (Easterly Roadway} Thereupon an Ordinance entitled: "An Ordinance Granting to the Southern Pacific Railroad Company, a Corporation, and Southern Pacific Company, a Corporation, its lessee, their successors and assigns, a f ran- chise to construct, maintain and operate a Spur track upon and across Alameda Street in the City of Lynwood," was read. by,caption far the first reading. It was moved by Councilman Zimmerman and seconded by Councilman Lake that the further reading of said Ordinance be «raived. All members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion carried. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman McMeekin and seconded by Councilman Zimmerman that said Ordinance be accepted as read the first time and pass to the second reading. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Zimmerman, McMeekin, Lake and Meyer. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Christensen. An application for a franchise to construct, maintain and oper- ate a spur track upon and across Fernwood Ave., and along, upon and across Beechwood Ave. in the City of Lynwood, was received. Thereupon RESOLUTION N0. 1426, in connection with said matter, was read. It was moved by Councilman Zimmerman and seconded by Councilman Lake that said Resclution No. 142.6 be adopted. Roll Call Ayes: Councilmen Zimmerman, T+gcT,.geekin, Lake and Meyer. .Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Christensen. Thereupon an Ordinance, entitled: "An Ordinance Granting to the Pacific Electric Railway Company, a Corporation, its successors, and as- signs, a franchise to construct, maintain and operate a spur track upon and across Fernwood and Beechwood Avenues in the City of Lynwood", was read ,by caption for the first time. It was moved by Councilman McT~2eekin and seconded by Councilman Zimmerman that the further reading of said Ordinance be waived. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman T,~c- Meekin that said Ordinance be accepted as read the first time and pass to the second reading. . RESOLUTION N0. 1427, entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUN- CIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DECLARING THAT~CERTAIN DAIRY CONSTITUTES A PUB- LIC NUISANCE; AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO TAKE SUCH STEPS AND BRING SUCH ACTION IN COURT AS ;~°:~ ILL BE NECESSARY TO ABA~i'E THE NUISANCE, " was read . Absent: Councilman Christensen. Five Tax Deeds executed by H.,L. Byram as Tax Collector of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, conveying certain properties particularly described therein to the City of Lynv~~ood, all dated March.23, 1942, were su~:mitted. ~~~ It was moved by Councilman T~ZeTti4eekin and aeconde~~ by Councilman Zimmerman that said T~.x Deeds be accepted and_ that the City Clerk be directed to cause said instruments to be recorded in the office of the Recorded of Los Angeles County, California. Byram, as Tax Collector of ~he~ County of Los Angeles, State of California, conveying certain property therein particularly described to the City of Lynwood, dated T~arch 23, 1942, way submitted. The property covered by said deed is registered under the Land Title Act, last Certificate No. LD-98158. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman McMeekin that said tax deed be accepted and that the City Clerk be direc- ted to cause said instrument to be registered in the office of the Re- gistrar of Land Titles of Los Angeles County, California, and that the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute a transferree's Affidavit and receipt for duplicate certificate in connection with said conveyance.
