Scout Council, stating that they a.re planning orl conduct- ing a d=ay cam~~ this summer• for girl Scouts on July 2,2,, 23, 24 and 29, 3^ and tel. It was moved by Councilman T~Jieyer and seconded by Councilman ~`i1= lard that permission be granted. A communication. ti~rae received from the City of South Gate to the effect that after a careful check and several investi~rt'_ons of traffic conditions on L. B. blvd. and Tweed~r ~lvd., it is the recommendation of their police department and t'r.e desire of the City Council to erect stop and. go si nals at said intersections, sug~.~esting th2.t the City of Lynwood share ire the expense on a. 5C?-50 basis inasmuch as it is partly within the City of Lynwood. There being no ob ject_on, this matter ~~+'a.s referred to the Chief of Police for checking. A communication was received from Harold ?tl. Kennedy, Executive Director of L. A. County Defense Council, stating that in view of the re- cent municipal election., there have been some changes of personnel in the loca.l_ defense Councils, tl~~erefore, suggesting that Lynwood send in the name and address of t'r~e representative wT,o has beer chosen as L~rnwood represen- tative to sit in on the L. A. County Defense; also stating that is would also be permissible to have another person to receive notice of meetings, if the Council so desire. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Christensen a.nd seconded by Councilman Tvie.yer that Paul T:I. Kerr, Coordinator of Civilian Defense of Lyn- wood, be appointed a.s Lyn~~rood's votin~• member, and that Councilman Ralph ~'~. Lake also be appointed to receive notices of meetings to attend when he can. A communication wias received from Carver Investment Company of- fering to sell Bond No. 19, City of Lynwood 1915 Act, Series "W" in the principal amount of ~50~.00 for X450.00. City Treasurer Dummett also wrote to the effect that there is X243.97 on deposit ir. Series "`~'" 1915 Bond account, so if. the proposal is accepted it would be necessary to trans- f er 206.03 from the General Fund. After due consi.dera.tion of the matter, it was moved by Councilman Iuieyer and seconded by Councilman '4rillard that the City accept said offer, and that a warrant be drawn an the general Fund in favor of the Special Assessment and Tax Re11ef Fund in the sum of ~206.0~ and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay for said band from funds in the 1915 Bond Account and funds in the Special Assessment and Tax Relief account. A communication tr~as received from the Lynwood Feace Officers Association to the effect that the Officers of the Police Department have been offered primers, powder, shell cases, lead and reloading tools that will be in-addition to the one that they now have that will enable reload- ing more calibres than our present reloading tool for a consideration of X65.27 frcm one Ben Reddick of Huntington Beach, stating that they need the bullets ar~d po~~=den for ma'_~ing~ bullets for use in target practise, re- cam;~ending. that the City purchase the material. There being no objection, this matter was referred to Councilman t,~til.lard to check into and report at the next meeting of the City Council. A petition was receiv d from businessmen, signed by IVI. C. Rhoads >nd 20 others requestsn~- that something ~e done to eliminate the traffic hazard that exists at Platt St, and P~fiulford Ave.. on account of cars tra- velin~~at excessive rate of speed. There being no objection, the matter wa.s. referred to Councilman '+lillard to confer with the Police Department and see if something can be done to correct the situation. The hour of 8 P. PSI. having arrived, said tine being the' hour fixed to hear protests of o~,jections in connection with the installation of sewers in the Easterly part of the City as continued. from last meeting of the Council. ..:The Mayor inquired of the audience whether or not any one wished to protest. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Christensen a-nd seconded by Councilman Meyer that the hearing be continued to June 2, 1942, at 8 P. M.
