The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned re- gular session, in the Council Chamber of the pity Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P . lv. Alayor T~cMeekin in the chair. Councilmen Lake, P~~eyer and 1-IcMeekin answered the roll call. Councilmen Christensen and `d'~illard were absent. It was moved by Councilman P~~eyer and seconded by Councilman Lake that the minutes of the previous regular meeting of July 7, 1942, be approved as written. All members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared tT-~e motion duly carried and it was so ordered. City Engineer Bateman submitted a map showing general nature, location and extent of the pro~pa~.ed:~:n improvement of a sewer installation project; also the total estimated cost of tT^le proposed improvement; the assessed value of the lands to be benefited; the assessed value of improvements on said lands; the total true value of the lands in the proposed assessment district; the amount of the ~p~c~;a~ assessments al- ready on each parcel of lands in the district; total estimated cost of said improvement on each separate Lot in the assessment district, anal other information as directed by the City Council by Resolution No. 1445 adopted on June 16, 1942, and as required by the Spe~i~l Assessment, Investigation, Limitation Act. Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Christensen and Y~illard. The resignation of A. D. Louse as member of the Civil Service Commission to take effect as of July 8, 1942, was submitted and read. It was moved by Council:~:an Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the resignation be accepted with regrets, and that the City Clerk be instructed to communicate with Mr. Louse thanking him for services rendered. All members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. . Mayor ~tlcT~~eekin submitted the name of David Good to fill the vacancy on the Civil Service Commission created by the resignation of Mr. A. D. Louse. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Council-man Meyer that the appointment of David Good as a member OP said Commission be ratified by the City Council. Carr, requesting per- mission to hang decorations across Long Beach Blvd. at Reechwood Ave. for the opening of the new Safeway Store on Long Beach Blvd. Tt was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman T~Zeyer that permission be granted to T~~Tr. Carr to hand such decorations across Long Beach to ~4 advertise the openir_~; of the new store as requested. A11 members of the Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. A communication was received from Austin ',"eston requesting refund of weed assessment which was charged in excess of amount d?ze. The City Clerk stated that an error had been ~~ade in computing; the amount of the assessment. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Council- man 112eyer that refund be granted to Austin y'leston in the amount of `x;2.70 for overcharge on Lot 1414, Tract 3389. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Lake, ivIeyer and I~~1cTvgeekin. Noes: None Absent: Councilmen Christensen and '~~illard. A communication was received from E. Burr, of Central Gardens ~Nater Company requestinb permission to connect his water line on to the City lines to be used only in the e~Jent that his system is made unusable on account of bombing action caused by present war emergency. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman 1~Teyer and seconded b,y Councilman Lake that permission be Granted with the understandin that water shall be used onl y in the event of necessity created by war conditions as specified above. An Ordinance, entitled: "An Ordinance of the City of Lynwood, waiving certain delinquent penalties for the non-payment of LightinG Assessments, and declaring an emergency,}' was read for tie first rerdinG.
