The City Council of the City of Lynn*rood met in a regular ses-
~ion, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on
above date, a t 7:30 P. P~JI.
Tvlayor McMeekin in the chair.
Councilmen Christensen, Lake, TUleyer, 'Willard and TU~cP.~geekin an-
swered the roll call.
It was moved by Councilman rhristensen and seconded by Council-
man PJteyer that the minutes of the previo~.s regular meeting of April 20,
1943 be approved as written. All members of the Council present voting
aye, the R~ayor declared the motion duly carried and it~--was so ordered.
l~l7ayor McPJfeekin addressed the Council to tree effect that he
u.~ishes to be relieved of leis responsibility as NIa.;IOr of the City of Lyn-
wood, therefore submitting his resignation orally.
Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and secon~~ed by Coun-
cilmr.n Christensen that said resignation be accepted ~lritri regrets. All
members of the City Council voting aye, tree T~,~ayor declared the motion
duly carried and it ~~las so ordered. Christensen

cilman Lake that Councilman Ja.ek ~~'illard be ap ~ol:~.ted as P~ayor of the
City of Lynwood and Chairman of the City Council.

A communication uvas received from the Roman Catholic Archbis-
hop of the Archdioces of Los Angeles, By Rev. Charles J. O'Carroll, of-

After due c:~nsider~~tion of the matter, the communication wa.s
referred. to City Attorney Ruby to check into the matter of rezonin~~~ that
will. be necessary; also that the Appraisers be instructed to br_i_n~~ in
their appraisal thereof for late:=r consideration of the City Council.
At this time Councilman T,~cMeekin reouestec'~ to be excused.. a.s he
had urgent bus ~_ness to take care of, wriicl: was granted. Whereupon he
vacated his chair and left the ~auncil CiLa.mber.
A communication alas received from the Girls Scouts and Bo;r ~
Scouts, by Gladys Clouse, making an appeal that a plot of ground anr~roxi-
mately 2CC feet by o00 ft=-et be set. aside in the Park site for Scouting I
activities. ~ !i
Ivlr. Claude Clark addressed the Council on the matter to the
efl~'ect that these organizations would like this plot of ground so that
they co~.~ld irprove it with trees, firering~, etc. , as. soon as possible;
also t%~at it would -be located just north of the school.
Tti~Irs. Gladys Clouse also addressed the Council regarding the
matter on to ca~_.ion and the need t:~erefor.
After consideration of the matter, Councilman Lake offered to
check in the Engineer DepGrtment to ascertain what room is available, or
c~~uld_ be made a.vailh ble for such purpose, vacating his chair and leaving
the Counci 1 Chamber for such checking.
The hour of 8 P. Trt. ha~~Tin~° arrived, ~sa.id ti~,:e being tr_e hour
fixed for hearing any objections or protests in c~7nnection with the ab=.te--
ment of ~rz,. and drying weeds as posted on all vacant Lots on wizich suCY~

A communication was received frofn Seavoia Investment Corpora-
tion, by Chas. H. Scott regarding sale of refunding: bonds to the city
against Lots 1251 and 12C9, Tract X335, agreeing to sell Bond #23 in the
ori~inrl of X575. C7, not inc7_ud i v~g interest or penalties, for the net sum
of 350. ~^, and_ Bond #33 in the original par value of ?227.60, not including
interest or penalities, for t?~e net sum of 175.00, and the City to pay for
bend. a~ainsL Lot 82,8, Tract 30`78 in the sum of X59.45, which vaa_s to ire
applied on the tax deed price of above lots ac heretofore agreed, at said

The Ci ty Clem stated tI~_at ~''ie believes it vrise for the City- to
accept this deal as one of the Lots has been sold, being Lot 12x9, and ,
the other is a substantial discount and would make it easier to sell at
a fair price.

ter to the effect that he believes that he is not in violation.

check with the Police Department to determine what the situation is, and

Council table, srati ng; that tre Boy Scouts Commit`ee and hi_~nself had a-
greed on a plot of ground in the park t:'a~ would be suitable for their
use, hov~aever, not so lame a.s first applied for.

Councii_:.lan Chri =tenser that a spice be set aside in the City Park to ae-
comrrodate the Bob-~s and Girls Scouts, as agreed upon.

declared the motion duly carried.
The City Clerk stated that Forrest W. Johnson has been ill
and cannot go ahead with his deal to purc~~se Lot 25, Block 3, Tract
64'74, therefore is reque-sting to be. relieved from further obligation,
Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilrrian
Christensen that Tv1r. Johnson be relieved of further obligation in con-
nection with the purchase•of said Lot and that all funds deposited as
payment thereon in excess of lOfo be refunded to him,
