TJlayor Willard in the Chair. Countilmen Wigs--ins, Lake, Meyer, Christensen and Willard answered the roll call. In the absence of City Clerk-Anderson, Deputy City Clerk Pearl C. PJlorris served. • It was r'ioved by Councilrrlan Christensen and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the minutes of the previous regular meeting of August 17, 1943 be approved as written. All members of the City Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. . WRITTEN COldiIrIUNICATICTS: • A communication was received from City Treasurer T. G. Dummitt -stating' that he was in receipt of a communication, from John F. •Bender special City Attorney for t,fle city of South Gate . stating •the City of South Gate 'r~~:,lds tax deeds on certain parcel-s • that ars covered by Lynvaood A & I #19 bonds, which our City owns covering lots 16, 17, 20, 21, 24, and 26 in Tract 8300, offering to purchase said bonds for 750 of the unpaid principal, and that he recommend the offer be accepted, the principal amount being X301.15 75~o being ~ 225.88. Thereupon it was rrioved by Councilman Tt~eyer and seconded by Councilman Christensen that City ~'reasurer T. G. Dummitt be authorized to accept this offer for said bonds from treCity of South Gate and deliver same to them. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman 'rViggins, Lake, PJleyer, Christensen and sh'illard: . • Noes: None. Absent: None. • A communication was received from City Treasurer T. G. Summitt, relative to a reassessment charge against the easterly 80.5 feet of the northerly 133.5 feet of Lot 4, Tract 5103, owned by T~Ir. and Mrs. Fletcher, believing that trey were due an adjustment due to the 31 feet ,just west of the above mer.tioried parcel, which they had conveyed to the City of Lynwood for street purposes. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman•Lake and seconded by Councilman Christensen the City mreasurer Dun-imitt be aut~lorized to communicate with Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher and explain t'r_e facts as happened in this case. All members of the City Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. A communication was received from the Sequoia Investment Corporation, agreeing.' to deliver and convey title to the City of Lynwood portions of Lots 9-16-25 and 26 r~2od~jeska Acres and portion of Lot 1075, Tract 3025, and all other portions of Lots they can, in exc~.arge for tax deeds to Lot 543, Tract 2551 and Lot 148, Tract 8716, as they own the bonds on said lots, same are delinquent over five years and they are in process of foreclosure of these bonds against these lots. It was moved by Councilman. T~Zeyer a_nd seconded by Councilman Christensen that Councilman Lake be authorized to work with City Treasurer Dummitt, a deal with the Sequoia. Investment Corporation. ORDINANCE N0. 385, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE CF THE INCOR,~ FORAYED CI'?~Y CF LYN"~~OOD, CALIrCRI:IA, ESTAnLISHING TAX DISTRICTS N0~ 1 AND N0. 2 OF SAID CITY, F IXIT~G '1''r:E RATES 0:~ TAXES, AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGIIII~ING JULY 1, 1943 AND ENDII~dG JUNE 30, 1944." It ~r=a.s moved by Councilmen Lake and seconded by Councilman Meyer that the reading of above ordinance be tivaived for the second reading. All members of~the City Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion carried ar_d it ti~-as so ordered. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman T~4es-er that said ordinance be adopted_ and passed and be published as required by lay:. The mater of making a chanLe with the telephone system was brought up for discussion as to direct commu nications to each office or maintain the P. B. X. in the City Hall. Af per some consideration it was moved by Councilman Christensen and seconded by Councilman P~eyer that the Mayor be authorized to investigate the cost and other information in connection therewith and report at the next meeting.
