M. Mayor Willard in the chair. Councilmen Lake, Christensen, Wiggins, and Willard answered the ro 11 call. Councilman Meyer was absent. ~t was moved by Councilman Christensen and seconded by Councilman Wiggins that the minutes of the previous regular meeting of February 15, 1944 be approved as written. All members of the City Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried and it was so ordered. It was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Wiggins that said Resolution No. 1645 be accepted and adopted and that the City Clerk be instructed to cause said Resolution to be recorded in the office of the Recorder of Lo s Angel e s County, RoI1 Call: Ayes: Councilmen Christensen, Lake, Wiggins and Willard. • Noes: None. An offer to purchase Lots 142, 143, and 144, Tract 5632 for the sum of X870.00, free and clear of alI assessments and bonds of record, and City not to clear title thereto, was received from the Land Escrow and Safe Deposit Company, on behalf of the Bank of America, National Trust and Savings Association, said offer being within the appraisal thereof. "'"" Thereupon GRANT DEED whereby the City of Lynwood proposes to convey said Lots 142, 143, and 144, Tract 5632 to Hank of America, National Trust and Savinggs Association, was submitted. It was moved by Councilman Christensen that said Resolution No. 1646 be adopted. Roll Call: Ayea~ Councilmen Christensen, Lake, Wiggins, and Willard. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Meyer. A Quitclaim Deed, dated February 23, 1944, and signed by Edward H. Good andRegina L. Good, was"submitted, whereby they convey their interest in and to Lots 868 and 869, Tract 3172 to the City of Lynwood. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Christensen and seconded by Councilman Lake that said Quitclaim deed be accepted and that the City Clerk be directed to cause said instrument to be recorded in the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles County. 2 Roll Call: Ayes: Gbuncilmen Christensen, Lake, Wiggins and Willard. Noes: None. Absent; Councilman Meyer. A communication was received from Otto Evans and Alfonso A. Ortega making application to move four buildings on a lot on Atlantic Boulevard in order to do.100~ war work. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Christensen and seconded by Councilman Lake that permission be granted, provided that~it meets with the approval of the Building Inspector. All members of the City Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion dt~1y carried. A communication was received from Chief of Police Kerr recommending the purchase of two Harley-Davidson motorcycles Prom Rich Budelier at a rice of X523.25 each, stating that a Mr. Robert Gaines has offered•350.00 for the Indian Motorcycle, which is more than the dealer offered therefor in the trade,. therefore recommending that it be accepted. Thereupon the offer of Mr. Robert Gaines, 11363 Loube Avenue, i Lynwood, was submitted offering X350.00 for the motorcycle with a cheek accompanying his offer in the sum of X200.00. . Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Wiggins that said offer made by Mr. Gaines be accepted and that the Indian motorcycle be sold to him for X350.00. Roll Call:. Whereupon it was moved by ,Councilman Lake and seconded by Councilman Christensen that Chief of Police Paul W. Kerr be authorized to purchase the two motorcycles for X523.25 each as recommended, Ro11 Call; Ayes: Councilmen Christensen, Lake, Wiggins and Willard. Noes: None. Absent: Cou neilman Meyer, ' Mayor Willard addressed the Council stating that the War Council had met to consider the Civilian Defense personnel and they recommend that Mr. A. E, Skelton be retained as Coordinator of Civilian Defense in the City of Lynwood on a part time basis and that his Salary be fixed at X50,00 per month, and that Mrs. Mabel Seger be appointed as Director of Civilian Service at a salary of X150,00 per month.. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lake and seconded by •Councilman Wiggins that the recommendation of the War Connell be accepted and that Mr..A. E. Skelton~s salary be reduced to x$50.00 per month as Coordinator of Civilian Def en se as a part time fob, and that .Mrs. Mabel Sever be appointed as Director of Civilian Service at a salary oP X150.00 per month. Cameron, a Geologist addressed the Council offering •his services in connection with the locating of the moat water supply for the City in connection with drilling for water on a new site, explafining what he has done for many communities, and the Government -in connection with this matter. Mr. Cameron was regi.~ested to contact ~-~rxer Superintendent Blain. It was moved by Councilman Wiggins and seconded by Council- man Christensen that the meeting adjourn to March ?, 1944, at 7:30 P.
