Al l_ members of the City Council voting, aye, the P~ayor declared the motion drily carried. ~`dRITTEN COIV1viUNICATIONu: A corn,~;ur.ication was received from the Planning Congress of Los Angeles Cotint,y urging tie City Council to give special con- sideration the matter of aprropriating adecuate funds for the operation of a Planning Cornrnission during the year 1944-45 and subsegraent years. It was moved by Councilman Shrock and seconded by Councilmen l~ieyer that the matter be tabled. All members of the City Council voting aye, t'r~e lb~]ayor declared the motion duly carried. A communication was received from Land Escrow and Safe Deposit Co., by Homer W. Broam, Vice President, to the effect that they have obtained a. deed from Frank C. Mortimer, B?~ilding Loan Commission, State of California in possession of the assets of Pacific States Savings & Loan Co, conveying Lots 119 and 120, Licensed Surve,yor's ~y-ap to thy, City of Lynwood, which they will deliver u~~on the payment of X596.71 for Series 9 Bonds of Refr~nding A. & I. Dist. No. 17, et al, and X79.58 in payment of the quitclaim deed, which inclr~des pa.,yment of first half of taxes. Pennington, representing==~ the India Paint and Lccquer Co, addressed the Council to the effect that he is pro- posing to purchase three and one-half acres of land gust east of Alameda Blvd. , north of I!~1'.~rial Highway and West of Santa Fe. P.venue for future development of his concern stating: that they are now operating at another location, brat the plant is not s~aitr:ble -for their future needs. I~~r. Penningtoon explained in detail the hazard and ad.ors ti~at ma.,y be e: petted from such a plant, the adore coming ~crincipally from the boiling of linseed oils, st~.ting~ that ti~aey do not wish to invest in t'_rle property unless it is agreeable with the City of Lynv~ood for treni to move here as they want . to "ecome a part of the Community. Fire Chief Daet~rreiler a~'dressed the Council to the effect tr?at from the standpoint of the Fire hazards there is no objection -~ s far a.s his office is concerned, as the Fire Underwriters e~ill take necessary preca~?tions by req~~iring° a concrete building and other safety measures. . After due consideration, ~iayar Wiggins informed fir. Pennington th~etthe City Council will convene again on June 28 when the matter will be considered further and a definite answer be given. Nr. Bush addressed the Council regarding an approach to be built on Chester St. from which the Development Engineers are operating:°. The City Council stated. that they wauld look into it. Councilman S'r~rock addressed the Cozancil an behalf of a citizen residing near Lugo and Ernestine Streets, stating that tae street is badly in need of repair as all black top has worn off, and that some new material should be added. Wright, Public Accountant, offering his services again in connection with doing the City Auditing for ensuing fiscal ,year 1944-45, ctxarterly at ~2~?5.00 per quarter. Young on behalf of one James DeFalco, for the sz.zm of X1,050.00 for cash and lot to be delivered free and clear of all indebtedness. This offer being arithin .appraised value of said Lot, i t v+~a s moved. by Councilman ~~eyer and seconded by Cauncilman Shrock that said offer be accepted and that the Lot be sold free and clear of all indebtedness and City to furnish a merchantable title, but not to pay for a certificate of title. A communication was received. from the Department of Public Works of Sacramento acknowledging receipt of certified copy of result of special. census of Lynwood., stating that they will lase these figures in making apportionment of gas tax r-evenue beginning with July, 1944 quarterly payments.
