The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned
regular session, in the Council Chamber of the City H?11, 11331 Plaza
Street, an above date, at "7:30 P.A~.
Mayor Wig~~ins in the chair. -P~eyer
Councilmen Looney, Shrock,/Tucker and Wiggins answered the
roll call.
In the absence of City Clerk Anderson, Deputy City Clerk
Pearl C. IV~orri s served.
It was moved by Councilman Shrock end seconded by Council-
man P~ieyer treat the minutes of the nreviaus regular meeting of June
20, 144 be approved as written. All members of the City Council
present voting aye, the Mayor ~lecla.red the motion duly carried and
it was so ordered.
WRITTEN CC~,~uUNICATIONS:
Communication eras received from John A. Blain, asking that
he be r.eimb;trsed for repairs to his pickup truck that he ti-~as been
usin~~ for the last three years on City Work in the amoi;nt of X84.67.
Thereuron it v,1as moved by Councilman Tucker and Seconded by Councilman
Looney that said bill be allowed.

Comm>>nic~~tion from I~~1rs. Edwin Simmons asking covera.~e for
articles burned in a recent fire that got out of control in burning
uieeds frorrr a. vacant lot in the amount of X135.00. Said matter was
referred to tre City Attorney for investigation of claim.
Communication alas received from Fire Chief Daetweiler with
letter of resi~;natian from Actin~:• Captain Harold Harrymen, recommend-
ing that her. Harryman's resignation be accepted arith re~;rets and to
take effect July 16x 1944 and that he ,;.,e paid X93.90 addition. to his
salary to compensate for 12. days overtime due him, and that he be al-
lov~ed to select two men from the eli~~ibility list, provided they pass
the medical examination to start work July 1, 1.944 at a salary of
X185.00 per month. Also reeomrr~ending that Acting Engineer R~~tter be
apuointed Acting Captain and Fireman Yolton to Acting Engineer to take
effect July 16, 1944 and that Acting Captain Rutter's salary be raised
to ~235.OC per r:~antr, and Actin; ~'ngineer Yolton's to X220.00 per month.
Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Shrock a.nd seconded. by Councilman
Loonej,~ that Acting Captain Harold Harr,yrnan's resignation be accepted
with regrets and tr~at`he be raid ~C3.90 in addition to his salary
to com~~~ensate for 14: days overtime due him. All members of the
City Council present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly
carried,
It was moved by Councilman Tr_zcker and seconded by Councilman
P~eyer that Fire Cr~ief Da et~n;eiler be a1loTrted to select two men from
the Eli;~;ibil.ity list at a starting: salary of 4185.00 rer month and
to advance Tu~r. Rutter to Acting Captain to take effect J~.~1,v 1C, 1944
at a salary of X235. CC per month and. that P~nr. Yolton be advanced to
Acting Engineer to take of*'ect July 16, 1944 at a salary of 4220.00
per month,

Monseigneur O'Dwyer addressed t:-re City Col?ncil expressing his
appreciation and for otrlers in connection x~ith the Catholic Church,
to the City, the Public Health Department and Givic leaders for
helcin~; al,:~ng t~rith the. t$.lo~k of t~iis Y-ro,~ect in obtaining the I~tew
Hospital, also stating.t~at they wi71 have a training school for
rnzrses along Frith the Hospital. The P."ayor tha~~,ked r:'onseigneur
O'Dwyer for exr_,ressin~~ his ~:in~~ appreciation, stating that the
Counci will do all that trey can in helr.in~;, with the Hospital.
