' ~1`~RITEN COldiiuiUTyICATI0I~1S A communication was received from Coss_r_.ton Union Council California Congress of Parents and Teachers, Inc. being to the attention of the City Council the method by vr'nicr. the Sa-n Fra.n- ciscd, California, authorities are handling the Juvenile Delinquency Problem, recommendin~• that "the City give study to. their system. There being no objection, this matter ~~~as referred to Chief of Police Kerr for investigation. A com~~;unication in the forth of petition ~F~as received signed by Lawrence A, rJlcGowan, Ede^~ard G. Vande, Verdzn A. -Baker and Julis Bren recuesting that the alley between Josep~~ine and. Virginia in the 4100 block be ~•raded as the property owners are improving the properties and need. the~use of the alley. Thereupon it v~•as moved. by Councilman Shrock and seconder., by Councilman P~ieyer th~t~the matter be referred to the C"ty Engineer and to report thereon at the next regular meeting of the Council. All members of the City Council present voting° aye, the P~'ayar declared the motion carried. A communication ti~las received from City Engineer Graves recomraending• that the salary of ?+;rs. June Fa.~~rar be increased from ~135:0~~~ per month to ~-145.00 per month, plus the X10.00 !~~?r bonus. The City Clerk also stated that he believes she is entitled to such' increase, she ~~n~orkin~• part time in the Clerx's office. Thereupon it vas moved by Councilman Shrock and. seconded_ by Councilman Tucker t'r~at said salary of June Farrar be increased as recommr=nde~~ by Ci ty Engineer Craves. A co.:~munication v~~as receivedx from ^,it,y Engineer Graves, reporting on the matter of the T~ossibiiity of purchasing a v~ater tanl~°from Los Angeles P:~;unicipal Fower and_ Liglit, hovaever, that he would not recommend such ~-~urcha_se as tank is too small, and too much ~ ex7~~ense would be involved in di srnantling it. A commT~nication was received from City Engineer Graves reporting on the matter of drainage that is needed at the end of Sue, Ira and Hulme Stre~=ts, ~rhere an open ditch. has been maintained, but on account of grading having been done thereat by Hollingsworth Company, the ditc'r: has been filled in, suggesting that pipe might be laid to correct the situation, when it would be necessary to secure an easement for such purpose. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Tucker and secanded by Councilman Shrock that the City Engineer be ins.ructec? to contact said Company to ascertain if an easement may be secured; also to figure out howl much such a pipe line would cost in order to drain the Streets ?n question. A communication was received from Gibbs, Dunn & Crtztcher of the Los Angeles Railway Cor~~oration, giving information as to change of name from Los Angeles Railway Corporation to Los Angeles Transit 1Lines. Thex'e being no ob~j ection, said. communication was ordered filed. A communication tnras received from Ca. nogg Investment Co. to the effect that their salesman inadvertently violated, the City Ordinance in allo~?Lng a small. real estate 'office to be moved from its former location in Tract 5632 to the northeast corner of Cornish Avenue and Imperial Piighway in Tract 6312, and that they have so been advised by the City officials as r,ermit should have first been secured. Said Company nov+! requesting permission to maintain their office 2.t said location for the pur°~ose of selling off their lots on which they propose to construct residences on. Thereupon it was moved. by Councilman Tucker and seconded. b,y Council- man Shrock that oerrrission be granted for the disposal of the holdings of said Canoga Investment Co., after which. they shall vacate said office, this permit not being valid for more than one year from the date of this meeting. City Court for the. month of Februar~,~, were received. There being_ no objection, said reports were ordered filed. The hour of 8 P. r„~. having arrived, said time being the '.,our fixed for hearing any protests or objection in connection v^ith the proposed rezoning; of Lot 493, Tract 2551 from done Rl to 7.one C3, as posted and published as required by law. The P~:Iayor announced that this wa_s the time a.nd place for said hearing, inquiring of those present ii' there was any one who desired to }protest in connection ~~rith said matter. There was no respanse. The City Clerk stated that no writter. protests had been filed. Thereupon Tentative Report of the City Council of the City of Lynwood, California, in Relation to Proposed Change of Zone, was read, fixing ll~~= rch 2'~, 1945 at 8 P. M, a s the time of hearing on said report, v~ras read. It was moved by Councilman I~?eyer a.nd. secanded by Councilman Tucker that said report be adopted.
